How quickly you use up your data all depends on your online activity. Some apps and streaming services use more data than others. Here’s a guide to how much data some of the most popular apps and activities use.

Instagram

Snapchat

  • Browsing - 80MB per 30 minutes
  • Sending and receiving a single image - between 15KB and 50KB
  • Sending a 10 second video - 1.9MB

Spotify

  • Normal quality - 21MB per 30 minutes
  • High quality - 35MB per 30 minutes
  • Extreme quality - 70MB per 30 minutes
Apple Music
  • 56MB per 30 minutes
Tidal
  • 310MB per 30 minutes

Deezer

  • Standard - 70MB per 30 minutes
  • Elite - 310MB per 30 minutes

Netflix

  • Low setting - 125MB per 30 minutes
  • SD video - 250MB per 30 minutes
  • HD video - 500MB data per 30 minutes
BT Sport
  • 450MB per 30 minutes (or between 1.5GB and 2GB for a football match)
