Turning on and changing Accessibility settings on your EE TV

Many TV channels provide programmes with additional accessibility services such as subtitles, audio descriptions and signing.

We'll show you how to turn on accessibility features on your EE TV, and how to check your TV GUIDE to see which programmes have extra features included.

Subtitles

To turn subtitles on:

  1. While watching TV, press the OK button on your remote.
  2. If subtitles are available you'll see a settings icon - press the right button to highlight.
  3. Press the up button to highlight subtitles.



  4. Press the right button to select the language of subtitles you'd like (or available).



  5. Press the back button on your remote, and then press it again.
  6. Subtitles will be displayed.


     

Audio description

  1. While watching TV, press the OK button on your remote.
  2. Press the right button to highlight the settings icon.
  3. Press the up button to highlight Audio desc. language.



  4. Press the right button to select the audio description available.



  5. Press the back button on your remote, and then press it again.
  6. If an audio descriptions is available you'll hear a voice over describing what's happening on screen.

 

Signing

More and more TV programmes are now broadcast with signing. When available, signing will automatically show so there's no settings to change.

 

Accessibility information

You can check if a programme has accessibility features available from the EE TV guide and programme details pages. AD will be displayed if an audio description is available, SL if signing will be shown. You may also see S for subtitles.
 

EE TV guide

  1. Press the GUIDE button on your remote.



  2. The TV Guide will open.
  3. Use the up, down, left and right arrows on your remote to highlight a programme you're interested in.
  4. At the top of the screen you'll find information about the programme, including accessibility features available.
  5. In the example below Audio Description [AD] is available.


Programme details

  1. While watching live TV, press the information i button on your remote control and then OK.



  2. The Programme Details screen will open - in the example below we can see that there's an audio description [AD], subtitles [S] and sign language [SL] available.

 

ACCESSIBILITY settings

ACCESSIBILITY settings on the EE TV box also lets you turn on Subtitles and Audio Description and change Audio Track settings. To open settings:

  1. Go to the Home menu by pressing the Menu button on the EE TV remote.



  2. Press the up arrow on your remote (that's the one above OK) to highlight the top menu.



  3. Move over to TOOLS & HELP by pressing the right arrow three times on your remote.
  4. Press the down arrow three times, and the right arrow once to highlight SETTINGS and press OK.



  5. The settings screen will appear.



  6. Press the right arrow six times to go to ACCESSIBILITY.


Turning subtitles on and off

  1. From ACCESSIBILITY press OK to open Audio Track and Subtitles settings.



  2. Press the down arrow to highlight the SUBTITLES menu.
  3. Use the left (or right) arrow to select the language you'd like subtitles in (where available).



  4. Use the down arrow and press OK to confirm.



  5. Press the MENU button on your remote twice to return to the Home menu.
  6. Press OK to watch live TV.

 

Switch audio description on and off

To switch audio description on from ACCESSIBILITY settings:

  1. Press the down button and OK to check the Audio desc. box.



  2. You can also change the language of the audio description.
  3. Press the up arrow to highlight the Audio Track and Subtitles settings button and press OK to open.



  4. From here, use the right arrow to change your audio track language.



  5. Use the down arrow and press OK to confirm.



  6. Press the MENU button on your remote twice to return to the Home menu.
  7. Press OK to watch live TV.
