How do I get started?
The first time you go online with your new pay as you go mobile broadband device or SIM, you'll be given the following options in your browser window:
- Register your new device or SIM
- Activate your data and get online
In the Status tab, you'll see how much data you've got left and a countdown to the date it runs out. You might want to bookmark this page so you can keep track of what you're using.
How do I activate my pay as you go mobile broadband SIM?
When you get your mobile broadband device or SIM, it'll be ready to use or put into your mobile broadband device or compatible tablet straight away.
The first time you connect, a screen will appear in your browser and you'll just have to click the Activate button to start using your data. That's it.
Where can I find my device number?
When you activate your new data allowance or need to buy a new data add-on, a screen will appear in your browser window.
You'll find your broadband number in the top left corner of the screen. This is the number you'll need to enter at the start of the top up process.
How long does a data add-on last?
When you top up and try to go online, you'll be given a few options for the amount of data you want and how long you need it for. Your data will last until either you use it all up or the time expires, whichever happens first.
When that happens, just top up and buy a new data add-on at any time.
To keep track of your data and the time remaining, you can bookmark the Status tab of the EE screen that appears when you buy data add-ons.

What happens if I do not use up the data in time limit?
Unfortunately we can't roll over any leftover data onto your new allowance so you'll lose anything you haven't used. You can always pick a different amount of data or a longer time limit next time, to make sure you use everything you pay for.
How can I see how much data I've used?
When you see the EE screen and are prompted to buy a new data add-on, you'll see a bookmark link in the top right of the screen.
Bookmark the Status tab and you'll be able to see how much data you've used and how long you've got left on your current add-on.
You'll also be able to tell what you've bought in the past so you can see exactly what you've spent and used.
How do I buy more data?
If you try and connect with your EE mobile broadband device and you need more data, we'll point you in the right direction from the EE screen that appears in your browser window.
From there you can either top up or use your existing credit to buy a new data add-on to keep you online while you're out and about.
How much data will I need?
To work out how much data you need, check out the data calculator. By looking at what you do most online – for instance, email, browsing, watching videos, downloading music – this can help you work out how much data you may need to buy.
Can I buy more data before my current allowance runs out?
There's no need to buy more data in advance. When you run out or your allowance expires, we'll let you know and it only takes a couple of minutes to top up or buy a new data add-on.
It's worth keeping some credit on your account so you can buy data when you need it without having to top up every time. Remember though, you'll need to use your account every few months, as if it's left inactive for 6 months it'll be closed and you'll lose any unused credit.
How do I top up?
If you try to go online on your device when you've run out of data, a screen will appear in your browser window. Just click on the Top up link and have a debit or credit card ready.
If you need to top up from another computer you can do it on the EE website with your mobile broadband number and a UK credit or debit card.
When you get your device or SIM card, we'll also send you an E top up card - you can use this to top up when you're out and about at more than 100,000 shops across the country.
Can I top up someone else's mobile broadband credit?
If you're feeling generous, of course. All you need is their mobile broadband number and a credit or debit card. So whether it's the kids cramming at uni or gran watching telly on the bus, it's easy to come to the rescue and keep them online.
What happens when I go abroad?
You won't be able to use your normal data allowance when you go abroad. Instead, you can buy a roaming add-on to stay in touch while you're away.
Just fire up your device when you reach your destination and a screen will pop up in your browser window with details of the roaming add-ons available.
