Apple devices-troubleshooting

Following these five simple steps will usually sort out most issues you might be having with an iPhone or iPad.

You might not need to do all of them, just try each one in turn until the problem is sorted.

1. recharge

The battery symbol below shows that your device needs to be recharged.

Recharging your device:

  • You need charge your device with a high-power USB port like the one on a computer, or use an Apple AC adapter
  • It's best not to use the USB port on your keyboard because it may be a low-power port and your device won't charge
  • Make sure you use a USB port to charge your device. Fireware charging, through any third party device, isn't supported
  • If the red part of the battery image flashes three times and then the screen goes black, it means the device isn't getting any power to charge
  • If your battery is extremely low on power, the display may be blank for up to two minutes before one of the low battery images appears

2. restart


To turn your device off, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Sleep / Wake button until the red slider appears
  2. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off your device
  3. To turn back on, press and hold the Sleep / Wake button until the Apple logo appears


Does your device seem to be frozen?

To reset your device, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Sleep / Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds
  2. During this time, a red Power off slider may appear and the screen may go black
  3. Don't release the Sleep / Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears

3. reset

Just follow these simple steps to reset your device:

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Reset
  4. Tap Reset all settings


This will reset all your settings, but none of your data or media will be deleted.

4. restore

Warning: This will delete all your media and data

To restore your device using the latest version of iTunes, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your device to your computer.
  2. When it appears in the Source list, click on Restore in the summary tab.


Please note: This will delete all your media and data. All your settings will be reset. If possible, sync with iTunes before restoring to backup most recent data settings.
