Bright Box 2 Wireless Router - connect using WiFi protected setup (WPS)

If you regularly set up new connections on your wireless router, it can help to enable WiFi Protected Setup (WPS). This allows compatible wireless software to connect to your router by pushing the WPS button, instead of having to type the security code.

WPS settings are disabled by default, however they can be enabled from the router's admin pages.

How to enable WPS

To enable WiFi protected setup, follow the steps below from a computer connected to your Bright Box 2:

  1. Go to 192.168.1.1 (opens in a new tab or window)

  2. The router's LOGIN SCREEN will open

  3. Enter the username and password for the admin pages

    - The username is admin (all lower case)
    - The password can be found on a sticker on the bottom of your router

  4. Select LOGIN

    Enter the username and password for the router's admin pages

  5. The STATUS page will open

  6. Select ADVANCED from the menu and click ACCEPT

    Select ADVANCED and then choose ACCEPT

  7. Open Wireless Settings and select WiFi Protected Setup

  8. Select the Enable option and click on SAVE SETTINGS



  9. Your settings will be applied
    Applying changes. Please wait. The process may take up to 30 seconds. If you are making wireless changes you may need to reconnect to the wireless network.

  10. You can now connect to your Bright Box 2 using a compatible WPS device - You'll find some examples below
     

Connect using push button connect

When setting up a wireless connection, you may be given the option to push the WPS button on the router. There's a couple of examples below:

To set up a secure wireless connection:

  1. Press and hold the WPS button on the router for five seconds

  2. Alternatively, click on the Start PBC button that you'll find in WiFi protected settings

  3. The Intelligent Wireless light on the router will flash quickly

  4. The wireless software will connect to your Bright Box 2 and set up a secure wireless connection
     

Connect using the PIN method

When setting up a wireless connection, some wireless software will prompt you to enter the router's PIN to set up a secure wireless connection.

You'll find the PIN in the WiFi Protected Settings.

Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Alternatively, the wireless software may give you a PIN for you to enter onto the router's admin pages - an example of a BlackBerry device has been included below:

In this case, type the key provided by the wireless device into the WiFi Protected Settings:

Enter PIN and click Connect

If you find you're unable to connect using WPS set up, don't worry. Simply connect by entering the router's wireless password instead.
