Bright Box 2 Wireless Router - lights explained

Need a helping hand fixing your broadband connection? Your router's lights will point you in the right direction.

Power, Broadband and Internet green

Great news - your broadband connection is working.

The Internet light flickers while the connection is being used.

If your connection has worked before, turning everything off and back on again really does fix most connection problems.

  1. Push the ON/OFF switch on the back of your Bright Box 2.
  2. Shut down your computer (or device).
  3. Wait about 30 seconds, then turn everything back on.
  4. After a few minutes, check your connection again.

All lights are off

Check you're plugged in, and turned on. Simple.

Broadband red

You're not receiving broadband signals.

Check all your cables are connected - our set up guide will help.

Your Bright Box 2 is set up for Fibre Broadband. If you're on our standard broadband service, try switching settings to ADSL.


Internet light flashing amber

Your router's trying to connect. After a few seconds, it will go green.

Your router is synchronising with broadband.

Wait a minute or so, then check your wiring and filter set up is OK.


Internet light red

Did you click a Disconnect button in the Advanced section of your Bright Box admin pages?

You'll now have a Connect button which you can click and get back online.

Wireless light

Green shows wireless is enabled. A blink or flicker shows data being sent or received.

If the light is off, your wireless connection is disabled.


Intelligent wireless light

Bright Box router - Intelligent Wireless light flashing slowly

  • off - this is normal
  • flashing slowly - Intelligent wireless is searching for a new channel after the wireless button has been pressed
  • flashing quickly - WPS set up is in progress
  • solid green - a connection has been made using WPS set up
