Bright Box router - disable wireless security

To disable security on the router (for test purposes), follow the steps below:

  1. From a computer connected to your Bright Box router, go to 192.168.1.1 (opens in a new tab or window)

  2. The router's LOGIN SCREEN will open

  3. Enter the username and password for the admin pages
    • The username is admin (all lower case)
    • The password can be found on a sticker on your router

  4. Click LOGIN

  5. Select BASIC

  6. Select Wireless Settings

  7. The WIRELESS SETTINGS page will open

Tip: changing the name of your Wireless Network name (SSID) can help your device to set up a connection with new wireless settings, instead of trying to connect with old WPA settings

  8. In the security field, select No security

  9. Click SAVE SETTINGS

  10. Your new settings will be applied

You can now set up a new connection between your device and router. We strongly recommend using this as a test only if you're having problems connecting to wireless. Please turn WPA security back on once finished.
