Livebox - set up a print server

Your Livebox has a great feature called Liveprinter. Liveprinter means you can plug a printer directly into your Livebox and print documents from all your computers at home.

Some printers won't work, and certain features like scanning and ink level monitors aren't supported. But, if you want to have a go, the steps below show you how.

Install your printer

Install your printer on your computer and check the printer's working OK. You'll also need to repeat this step for any other computers you want to print from, but do this later.

Connect the printer to your Livebox

  1. Connect a cable between your printer and the USB socket on your Livebox - it's the one just below button 1 and 2 that you're aiming for
  2. Turn on your Printer
  3. Your Livebox might restart - if this happens, wait a couple of minutes for the exclamation light to go off

Set up your computer

We've provided instructions for Windows XP and Windows Vista. You'll hopefully be able to adapt the instructions to newer operating systems.

Troubleshooting

If you're having trouble printing, try checking the following:

  • Make sure your printer is powered
  • The cables are all securely connected at either end
  • Your PC can access the Livebox/Internet
  • Try turning your Livebox off, then on again
  • Your printer has paper and ink/toner supply
  • Try disabling any security software as a temporary measure. For assistance contact the manufacturer of your security software
  • If the service has worked before, check the printer still works when connected directly to a computer
