HTC 10 - Receiving texts from iPhone contacts
Why am I not receiving text messages from contacts who use iPhone?
The iPhone uses the iMessage system to send and receive messages between iOS users.
Your contacts' iPhone may still recognise your phone number as an iMessage user, thus causing you to be unable to receive text messages from these users (the iPhone is still trying to send you messages via iMessage, instead of via SMS).
To avoid this situation, you will need to deregister the phone from iMessage.
Deregister your iPhone as follows:
- Open your browser.
- Go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage.
- If you still have your iphone, follow the on screen instructions to turn iMessage off.
- If you don't still have your iphone (or have it with you), enter your phone number, making sure to select the correct country.
- Click Send Code.
- You will receive a confirmation code via SMS. Enter this code in the Confirmation code box.
- Click Submit.
Your phone number will be deregistered from iMessage. This should allow your contacts to send you SMS messages again.
Allow up to 24 hours for the system to update properly, although in most cases the deregistration should be instant once you have entered the confirmation code.
