Microsoft Surface 3 - Install and uninstall apps

Find and install apps from the Windows Store

Here’s how to find and install apps from the Store:

Step 1: Go to Start Windows logo and select Store.
Step 2: In the Store, you can find apps in several different ways:
  • Browse featured apps and lists. Drag your finger down or across the screen to browse apps. The storefront lists top free and paid apps, new and rising apps, best-rated apps, and more.
  • Use the top menus to explore apps. If you’re looking for a certain type of app, like a travel app or a game, choose the type from the list at the top of the screen.
  • Search for apps. If you know the name of an app you want or you’re looking for apps by a specific publisher, enter the name in the search box.
  • Search by genre. Specify the kind of music, video, or games you want, like jazz, comedy, or puzzles.
  • Check out the Deals hub. Find special offers and discounts on apps and games.
Step 3: Select an app to learn about it and read reviews.
Step 4: Choose an option under the description. What you see depends on the price of the app and whether you’ve already bought it.
  • Select Install if you’ve already bought the app.
  • Select Free Trial to try an app before you buy.
  • Select Free to install a free app.
  • Select the price to buy and install an app.

Uninstall an app

If you aren’t using an app, you can uninstall it to save storage space on your Surface. Here’s how:

Step 1: Go to Start Windows logo, select All apps, and find the app you want to remove.
Step 2: Press and hold (or right-click) the app tile and select Uninstall.

If you uninstall a built-in app or one you purchased from the Store, you can reinstall it from the Store. Look under My Library.
