Nokia 6300-send a text message


You can write and send text messages from your phone to another.

You can write text messages with or without predictive text input.

Follow these instructions to write and send text messages using ordinary text input.

1. Find Text message

  • Press the Navigation key to access the main menu
  • Scroll to Messaging and press the Navigation key
  • Scroll to Create message and press the Navigation key
  • Scroll to Text message and press the Navigation key


2. Enter recipient

  • Key in the phone number
  • If you want to send the text message to several recipients, key in semicolons to separate them


3. Select ordinary text input

  • Press Navigation key down to access the message field
  • Press # repeatedly until the ordinary text input icon (a pencil without horizontal lines) is displayed


4. Write the text

Follow the steps below to write text using ordinary text input

Write characters

  • Press 2 once to write A, twice to write B, three times to write C etc
  • Wait until the cursor starts blinking or press Navigation key right if you want to write two letters in succession on the same key


Switch between capital and lower case letters

  • Press # to switch between capital and lower case letters


Insert space, full stop and comma

  • To key in a space between two words, press 0
  • To key in a full stop, press 1
  • To key in a comma, press 1 twice


Write numbers

  • To key in one digit:
    • Press and hold the key with the required number until the number is displayed
  • To key in several numbers in succession:
    • Press and hold #
    • Scroll to Number mode and press the Navigation key
    • Key in the required numbers


Insert symbols

  • Press * to access a page with symbols
  • Highlight the required symbol and press the Navigation key


Insert smiley

  • Press * twice to access a page with smileys
  • Highlight the required smiley and press the Navigation key


Insert contact from the phone book

  • Press Options
  • Scroll to Insert contact and press the Navigation key
  • Highlight the required contact and press the Navigation key


Insert number

  • Press Options
  • Scroll to Insert number and press the Navigation key
  • Press the Navigation key
  • Scroll to the required name and press the Navigation key
  • The contact is displayed
  • Press the Navigation key to insert the number


Insert text

  • Use the Navigation keys to place the cursor where you want to insert text
  • Write the text


Copy text

  • Press Options
  • Scroll to Mark text or Mark all and press the Navigation key
  • Press the Navigation key to highlight the text
  • Use the Navigation keys to highlight the required text
  • Press the Navigation key
  • To paste the copied text:
    • Find where you want to insert the text
    • Press Options
    • Scroll to Paste and press the Navigation key


Delete text

  • To delete one character at a time:
    • To delete the character to the left of the cursor, press Clear
  • To delete all contents of a text message:
    • Press Options
    • Scroll to Clear field and press the Navigation key


View message

  • Press Options
  • Scroll to Preview and press the Navigation key
  • Press Back twice to return to the text message


5. Send the message

  • Press Options
  • Scroll to Send and press the Navigation key


6. Exit

  • Press Disconnect to return to stand-by mode
