Nokia 6300-set up picture messaging (manual)


If you're a T-Mobile customer, follow these instructions to set up the phone for picture messaging. If you're an Orange customer, your settings are at the end of this article.

Follow these instructions to set up a GPRS data connection for picture messaging.

1. Find Personal config. sett.

  • Press the Navigation key to access the main menu
  • Scroll to Settings and press the Navigation key
  • Scroll to Configuration and press the Navigation key
  • Scroll to Personal config. sett. and press the Navigation key


2. Create new or edit existing data connection

  • If no data connections have been created:
    • Press the Navigation key
    • Scroll to Multimedia msg. and press the Navigation key
  • If data connections have been created already:
    • Press Options
    • Scroll to Add new and press the Navigation key
    • Scroll to Multimedia msg. and press the Navigation key
  • If you want to edit an existing data connection:
    • Highlight the required data connection and press the Navigation key


3. Enter name

  • Scroll to Account name and press the Navigation key
  • Key in Picture Message and press the Navigation key


4. Enter picture messaging server

  • Scroll to Server address and press the Navigation key
  • Key in http://mms and press the Navigation key


5. Deactivate preferred access point

  • Highlight Use pref. access pt. and press the Navigation key
  • Highlight No and press the Navigation key
  • If required, press the Navigation key to accept


6. Enable proxy

  • Scroll to Access point settings and press the Navigation key
  • Scroll to Proxy and press the Navigation key
  • Highlight Enable and press the Navigation key


7. Enter IP address

  • Highlight Proxy address and press the Navigation key
  • Key in 149.254.201.135 and press the Navigation key


8. Enter port

  • Scroll to Proxy port and press the Navigation key
  • Key in 8080 and press the Navigation key


9. Begin editing bearer settings

  • Scroll to Bearer settings and press the Navigation key


10. Enter APN name

  • Scroll to Packet data acc. pt. and press the Navigation key
  • Press Clear to clear the input field
  • Key in eezone and press the Navigation key


11. Select network type

  • Scroll to Network type and press the Navigation key
  • Highlight IPv4 or IPv6 and press the Navigation key


12. Select authentication type

  • Scroll to Authentication type and press the Navigation key
  • Highlight Normal and press the Navigation key


13. Enter username

  • Scroll to User name and press the Navigation key
  • Key in eesecure and press the Navigation key


14. Enter password

  • Scroll to Password and press the Navigation key
  • Key in one2one and press the Navigation key
  • Key in one2one again and press the Navigation key to confirm


15. Save and exit

  • Press Disconnect to save the settings and return to stand-by mode

For Orange customers


Finding the settings:

  • Press Menu and select Settings
  • In Settings select Configuration >>> Personal config. sett
     

MMS setup:

  • In Personal accounts press Options >>> Add new >>> Multimedia msg. or if the profile list is empty press Add >>> Multimedia msg

Enter the following information:

  • Account name: Orange MMS
  • Server address: http://mms
  • Use pref. access pt: No
  • Define access point settings: OK
  • Access point settings:
  • Proxy: enable
  • Proxy address: 192.168.224.10
  • Proxy port: 8080
  • Bearer settings:
  • Packet data acc. pt: orangemms
  • Network type: IPv4
  • Authentication type: Normal
  • User name: Orange
  • Password: Multimedia
  • Press Back three times
  • In Personal accounts choose the name of the profile : Orange MMS, press Options and select Activate
  • The new profile is saved and activated
     

Still not working, have you checked the following?

 
Is MMS provisioned in CSS?
Try a soft reset, remove the battery while the phone is still on, leave out for 30 seconds
What is the Size of MMS, have you tried sending a text only MMS?
Can you receive MMS, if yes this is definitely a settings problem
Have you checked the camera settings?
Re-check the settings
Has a SIM swap been performed?

Before checking your settings ensure you have your email account username, password, email address and POP3 Server. If you don't have any of these details contact your email provider.

Remember with an Orange.net email account the POP3 password is not the same as the password used when logging in to email on the Orange website.

Finding the settings:

  • Press Menu and select Settings
  • In Settings select Configuration >>> Personal config. sett

Email settings:

In Personal accounts press Options >>> Add new >>> Email or if the profile list is empty press Add >>> Email

  • Enter the following information:
  • Mailbox name: Orange.net
  • My name: Sender name
  • Email address: Your email address
  • Incoming server type: POP3
  • Login information:
  • POP3/IMAP4 secure login: Disabled
  • POP3/IMAP4 user name: Login for POP3 email access
  • POP3/IMAP4 password: Password for POP3 email access
  • Press Back
  • Incoming mail sett.:
  • Incoming (POP3/IMAP4) serv.: pop.orange.net
  • Retrieve e-mails: 30
  • (IMAP4 only) Retrieval method: User's choice
  • Incoming (POP3/IMAP4) port: 110
  • Use pref. access pt.: No
  • Define access point settings: OK
  • POP3/IMAP4 access point:
  • Proxy: Disabled
  • Data bearer: Packet data
  • Bearer settings:
  • Packet data acc. pt.: orangewap
  • Network type: IPv4
  • Authentication type: Normal
  • User name: leave blank
  • Password: leave blank
  • Press Back three times
  • Outgoing sett. (SMTP):
  • Outgoing SMTP serv.: smtp.orange.net
  • Reply-to address: Your email address
  • Include signature: No
  • SMTP secure login: Disabled
  • SMTP user name: leave blank
  • SMTP password: leave blank
  • Outgoing SMTP port: 25
  • Use pref. access pt.: No
  • SMTP access point:
  • Proxy: Disabled
  • Data bearer: Packet data
  • Bearer settings:
  • Packet data acc. pt.: orangewap
  • Network type: IPv4
  • Authentication type: Normal
  • User name: leave blank
  • Password: leave blank
  • Press Back three times
  • Displ. term.window: No
  • Press Back
  • In Personal accounts choose the name of the profile : Orange.net, press Options >>> Activate.

The new profile is saved and activated.
