Nokia Lumia 710-add an email account (manual)


If you are using a POP3 email account in the email application on your computer, you can also set it up on the phone.

If you're a T-Mobile customer, please follow these instructions to set up your Nokia Lumia 710 for email. If you're an Orange customer, your settings are at the end of this article.

  1. Find email+accounts
    Press arrow right to access the main menu
    Press Settings
    Press email+accounts

  2. Create new email account
    Press add an account
    Press advanced setup

  3. Enter email address
    Press the field below Email address and key in your email address

  4. Enter password
    Press the field below Password and key in the password for your email account
    Press next

  5. Select account type
    Press Internet email

  6. Enter email account name
    Press the field below Account name and key in a name for the email account

  7. Enter sender name
    Press the field below Your name and key in the required sender name

  8. Enter incoming server
    Press the field below Incoming email server and key in the name of your email provider's incoming server

  9. Select server type
    Press the field below Account type
    Enter in your server type

  10. Enter username
    Press the field below Username and key in the username for your email account

  11. Enter outgoing server
    Press the field below Outgoing (SMTP) email server and key in the name of your email provider's outgoing server

  12. Activate or deactivate SMTP authentication
    Press Outgoing server requires authentication to activate or deactivate SMTP authentication
    When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), SMTP authentication is activated

  13. Use the same username and password for sending email messages
    Press Use the same username and password for sending email to activate the function
    When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is activated

  14. Edit advanced settings
    Press advanced settings

  15. Deactivate SSL encryption
    Press Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email to deactivate SSL encryption
    When the box next to the menu item is empty, SSL encryption is deactivated

  16. Select setting for retrieving new email messages
    Press the field below Download new content
    Press the required period or manually

  17. Select time for retrieving email messages
    Press the field below Download email from
    Press the required period or any time

  18. Activate email account
    Press sign in
    Wait while the email account is activated

  19. Exit
    Press the Home key to return to standby mode

For Orange customers

    On the homescreen, tap the Email Setup tile

  1. Tap the type of account you wish to set up:
    Windows Live - use this to configure a Hotmail, Xbox Live or Messenger account you just need the email address and password to configure this account
    Outlook – use this to configure an Exchange account such as a work email account
    Orange e-mail – use this to configure an Orange.net email account you just need the email address and password to configure this account
    Yahoo! Mail - use this to configure a Googlemail account you just need the email address and password to configure this account
    Google – use this to configure a Googlemail account you just need the email address and password to configure this account
    Other account – use this for all other email accounts. For the majority of email providers you just need the email address and account password

If your email provider is not showing then you will need to tap advanced setup and follow these instructions.


  1. Tap the Email address field and enter your email address

  2. Tap the Password field

  3. Enter the password for your email account and tap next

  4. Now, tap Internet email account and tap the Your name field

  5. In this field, you should enter your name as you would like it to appear on outgoing emails, and then tap the return icon

  6. Now, enter pop.orange.net click here for list of providers server details (Orange is pop.orange.net)

  7. Tap the Account type field, and tap click here for list of providers Protocol details (Orange is POP3)

  8. You're almost done. Tap the Username field, enter your email address, and then tap the return icon

  9. Double check that you're entered the correct password, and then tap the return icon

  10. Now, enter click here for list of providers server details (Orange is smtp.orange.net)

  11. Remove the tick from Outgoing server requires authentication

  12. Tap advanced settings

  13. Tap Download new content and decide how often you would like the device to check for emails

  14. Tap Download email and decide from how far back you want to receive emails

  15. And finally, tap sign in. Your Orange.net account is configured and ready to go


You can test your email by sending an email to yourself from your PC, but please bear in mind that the email may take a little while to get there.

When setting up an email account that contains contacts, you have the option to sync those contacts to your Windows Phone.
