Samsung s5230-write and send a text message

You can write and send text messages from your phone to another. You can write text messages with or without predictive text input. Follow these instructions to write and send text messages using ordinary text input on your Samsung S5230.

1. Find Message

  • Press Menu
  • Press Messages
  • Press Create message
  • Press Message


2. Add recipient(s)

  • Press Tap to add recipient
  • Press Enter manually
  • Key in the required phone number and press Done


3. Select ordinary text input

  • Press the message field
  • If T9EAb is displayed:
    • Press T9


Step 4. Write the text

  • Follow the steps below to write text using ordinary text input
  • Write characters
    • Press 2 once to write A, twice to write B, three times to write C etc.
    • Wait until the cursor moves one character to the right if you want to write two letters from the same key in succession
  • Switch between capital and lower case letters
    • To switch to capital letters:
    • Press abc or Abc (depending on the current setting)
  • Press ABC
  • To switch to lower case letters:
    • Press ABC
    • Press abc
  • Insert space, full stop and comma
    • To key in a space between two words, press space
    • To key in a full stop, press 1
    • To key in a comma, press 1 twice
  • Write numbers
    • To key in one number:
    • Press and hold the required number key
  • To write more numbers:
    • Press abc, Abc or ABC (depending on the current setting)
    • Press Numeric
    • Key in the required numbers
  • To return to writing letters:
    • Press 123
    • Press the required setting
  • Enter symbols
    • Press abc, Abc or ABC (depending on the current setting)
    • Press Symbols
    • If required, press arrow right or arrow left to find the required symbol
    • Press the required symbol
  • To return to writing letters:
    • Press SYM
    • Press the required setting
  • Insert text
    • Place the cursor where you want to insert text
    • Write the text
  • Delete text
    • To delete one character at a time:
    • To delete the character left of the cursor, press backspace
    • To delete all text:
    • To clear the display, press and hold backspace


5. Send text message

  • Press Done when you have written your text message
  • Press Send


6. Exit

  • Press Disconnect to return to stand-by mode
