What size SIM card does the device use?

The device uses a Nano SIM card. Make sure you are using the correct size SIM card, as an incorrectly sized SIM card may become stuck in the device.

View the device information

Find out how to view the device information.

  • Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable or WiFi connection.
  • Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  • Enter the required username and password, then click OK.
  • Click System under the Settings tab.

The device information has been displayed.

Set up as a WiFi hotspot

Find out how to change the WiFi network name and password on your device

  • Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable.
  • Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  • From the home page, click log in here to access settings.
  • Enter the required username and password, then click OK.
  • Click WiFi Setting under the Quick Setup tab.
  • Click the SSID field, then enter the required hotspot name.
  • Click the Security dropdown.
  • Click the desired security type (e.g. WPA2 PSK).
  • Click the Key field, then enter the required password.
  • Note: To view the password, tick Show Password tickbox.
  • Click Apply or Save.
  • If prompted, click OK.

The WiFi network name and password have been changed, and the device has been set up as a WiFi hotspot.

Automatically connect to the internet

Find out how to set the device to connect to the internet automatically.

  • Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable or WiFi connection.
  • Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  • From the home page, click log in here to access settings.
  • Enter the required username and password, then click OK.
  • Click Connection Mode under the Connection tab.
  • Select Automatic from the drop down list.
  • Click Save.

The device will automatically connect to the Internet when switched on

Can I use the device with a Mac computer?

To use the device with a Mac computer:

  • Turn the device on, then search for available wireless networks on the computer by going to System Preferences > Network > Airport. Choose MY WIFI XXXX (where XXXX is the last four digits of your device MAC address) from the list of available networks.
    Click the required SSID when it appears in the available wireless networks.
  • If prompted, enter the WiFi key.
  • Note: The default WiFi key is MYWIFIXXXX (where XXXX is the last four digits of your device MAC address).

The device has been connected.

How to broadcast or hide your network name (SSID)

A Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the wireless network name broadcast by your Osprey 2 Mini. Having SSID broadcast disabled essentially makes your Access Point ‘invisible’ to devices trying to connect to a wireless network unless it already knows the SSID.

Find out how to enable or disable the SSID Broadcast.

  1. Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable.
  2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  3. Enter the required username and password, then click OK.
  4. Click the SSID Broadcast dropdown box.
  5. Click Enable or Disable.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click OK.

The SSID Broadcast has been enabled or disabled.

Backup and restore device settings

Save the Device Configuration

Find out how to backup current settings of the device.

  1. Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable.
  2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  3. From the home page, click log in here to access settings.
  4. Enter the required username and password, then tap OK.
  5. Click System under the Settings tab.
  6. Click Backup.
  7. Select the location to save current settings, then click OK.

The device current settings have been saved.

Restore a Saved Device Configuration

Find out how to restore backed up device settings.

  1. Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable.
  2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  3. From the home page, click log in here to access settings.
  4. Enter the required username and password, then tap OK.
  5. Click System under the Settings tab.
  6. Click Browse....
  7. Navigate to the saved configuration file, then click Open.
  8. Click Restore.
  9. Click OK.

The device settings have been restored.

Perform a master reset

Find out how to perform a master reset of your device.

Perform master reset via hardware:

  1. Remove the bumper to uncover the Reset button.
  2. Using a paperclip or pen, press and hold the Reset button for approximately 5 seconds.
  3. The device will restart automatically.

Perform master reset via software:

  1. Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable.
  2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  3. From the home page, click log in here to access settings.
  4. Enter the required username and password, then click OK.
  5. Click System under the Settings tab.
  6. Click Reset.
  7. Click OK.

Note: Performing master reset will delete all personal configuration settings and will also restore the web-based management settings to their default values.

The factory default settings have been restored.

Check and clear usage history

Find out how to check the usage history.

  1. Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable or WiFi connection.
  2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter http://192.168.1.1/
     then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  3. From the home page, click log in here to access settings.
  4. Enter the required username and password, then click OK.
  5. Click Connection Status under the Connection tab.
  6. Click Usage History to display usage.
  7. Click Clear if you would like to delete your usage history form the device.
