EE Business Extra plan is great news for sailing holiday specialist, saving costs and improving the customer experience
Sunsail is a leading provider of sailing holidays. It relies on and celebrates total mobility: from the adventurous activities it promotes, to the outdoor-loving customers it attracts in increasing numbers each year.
Headquartered in Surbiton, the Sunsail operation is based at Port Solent Marina, near Portsmouth. This picturesque spot is home to a sailing school, private charter business and many of the events and competitions the company runs for commercial clients. These include blue-chip businesses, which use them for team events or client entertainment.
With many customers based abroad and its own staff of around a dozen employees frequently out of the UK office on business, Sunsail is always looking for better ways to manage its international dialling and roaming charges to get greater value.
EE Business Extra phone plan was designed with businesses like Sunsail in mind. Needing to act with the speed and agility of a niche travel operator, features like Double Speed 4GEE data and three hours of inclusive international calls, to and from the US and Europe, really help Sunsail manage costs.
“Sometimes our boats go to France or the Channel Islands, and our ops team needs to be able to speak to the crew,” explains Simon Boulding, Event Manager. “When they need the opening time of a particular lock or help in locating a bilge pump, Sunsail technical support has to deal immediately.”
Delivered more flexibly and cost effectively than ever before, EE accelerates Sunsail responses in such situations. And, providing they’re within range of a mobile network, sailors around the world can talk to Sunsail specialists with the clarity of a local call.
With the previous 3G plan, all Sunsail international calls were charged individually.
"Now, with EE Business Extra we can make three hours of calls – to the US, from the US and within Europe,'" explains Simon. “And if we need to use the internet while we’re abroad, we simply buy a data add on so we don’t have to worry about running up a big bill,” adds Simon. “We’ve always found EE to be the perfect partner for international business, helping us manage and keep control of communication costs.”
Meanwhile, in the UK, superfast 4GEE makes it easier for Sunsail to market itself more effectively. Simon explains: “Snapping pictures of yachts on the water and uploading them instantly to social media helps engage customers more directly and frequently. The Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week regatta is a great example of this.”
