Choose an amount on top of your monthly plan. Set it as your spend cap. And any usage you’ve capped won’t be added to your bill. 

With an EE Business spend cap, you’re in charge of your charges.

If you find yourself needing more that month, you can change or remove your spend cap whenever you want. It’s the flexible way to stay in control.

International calls and roaming, and UK calls and texts outside your plan are some of the things covered by a spend cap.

What is an EE Business spend cap?

An EE Business spend cap is an option you can choose to limit how much you spend on top of your monthly plan. A spend cap is a simple way you can take control of your charges and avoid unexpected bills. 

What’s covered by an EE Business spend cap?

This usage will count towards your out-of-plan EE spend cap:

  • UK voice calls
  • UK text messages
  • UK picture messages
  • UK data on Business Connect plans
  • Calling abroad
  • Roaming
  • Access charges to premium numbers and numbers beginning with 09, 118, 083, 084, 085, 087, 070
  • Premium rate texts sent from your mobile
  • Call divert charges
  • Calls via text relay
  • Calls to 123
  • Calls to bypass services 07744 and 07755
  • Paging services
  • Calls to satellite numbers and planes

Once an EE Business spend cap limit is reached, this usage will be limited.

Are there any charges not included in an EE Business spend cap?

Yes. This usage will not count towards your out-of-plan EE spend cap:

  • Monthly plan charges, and other recurring charges
  • One-off data passes
  • Buying add-ons, like extra minutes, BT Sport, Apple Music, or any purchase made via charge to mobile
  • Service charges for premium numbers and numbers beginning with 09, 118, 083, 084, 085, 087, 070
  • Premium rate texts you receive
  • Insurance
  • Admin fees

This usage will be billed, even if an EE Business spend cap is in place.

Is data included in the EE Business spend cap?

Depending on your EE Business plan, data usage can be capped in different ways.

  • If you’re a Business Connect customer

If you reach your in-plan data limit, you can continue to use data at the charges detailed in your plan – what we call ‘run on rates’.

These data charges will count towards the spend cap you set – so your data use could be limited in a month if all your out-of-plan usage combined adds up to your EE Business spend cap.

  • If you’re not a Business Connect customer

Data already has its own in-plan limit, and is separate from the EE Business spend cap.

If you reach your in-plan data limit, buying a data pass allows you to use more data on top of your plan.

The cost of the data pass will always be added to your bill, even if you’ve reached your EE Business spend cap that month.

How do I set a spend cap?

When you buy a mobile phonetabletSIM-only or mobile broadband plan, set your EE Business spend cap in five simple steps:

  1. Choose your device
  2. Choose your plan
  3. When we ask if you want a spend cap, tick the box
  4. Choose your spend cap amount from the drop-down
  5. Buy your device – and you’ll have an EE Business spend cap on top of your plan

What are the different amounts I can choose for my EE Business spend cap?

You can set an out-of-plan spend cap from this wide range of amounts:

  • £0 spend cap
  • £5 spend cap
  • £10 spend cap
  • £15 spend cap
  • £20 spend cap
  • £30 spend cap
  • £40 spend cap
  • £50 spend cap
  • £75 spend cap
  • £100 spend cap
  • £150 spend cap
  • £200 spend cap
  • Unlimited spend cap

Choosing £0 for your spend cap can help limit you to in-plan use only each month.

‘Unlimited spend cap’ is the same as no spend cap on out-of-plan use.

All other amounts are on top of your monthly plan – so choosing a £20 spend cap, for example, allows you to spend £20 extra each month before use is limited.

When can I set a spend cap?

You can set an EE Business spend cap when you take out a mobile phone, tabletSIM-only or mobile broadband plan after 01/10/2018.

You can also set an EE Business spend cap if you renew or upgrade one of these plans after 01/10/2018.

What happens if I get near to my spend cap?

You’ll get an EE spend cap alert from us. We’ll text you when your usage reaches 80% of your EE Business spend cap.

So if you choose a spend cap of £50, for example, we’ll send you an EE spend cap alert text when you’ve spent £40 on top of your plan that month.

You can then decide to limit use for the rest of the month, or contact us to increase or remove your EE Business spend cap.

 

What happens if I hit my EE Business spend cap?

If you choose to set a spend cap, we know you don’t want to get a bill for any costs that you didn’t expect. So, to help you, we’ll limit your use if you reach your EE Business spend cap.

For example, once a spend cap is reached, you won’t be able to make any more premium rate calls that month.

But don’t worry. We’ll text you when you’ve reached your cap, and you can contact us if you want to increase or remove your EE Business spend cap.

How do I change or remove an EE Business spend cap?

Please contact us if you need to set a different spend cap, or allow unlimited out-of-plan use.

If I choose a £0 spend cap, will some usage be limited straight away?

Yes. Setting a £0 spend cap will stop you from calling premium rate numbers, for example.

That’s because this type of usage is not included in EE plans, and is always charged on top. 

Can I set different spend caps for different devices?

Yes. If you buy more than one device, you can choose a different spend cap for each one.

On Business Connect, could data speed be restricted by a spend cap?

Yes. To help you control additional spend on out-of-plan data, your data speed will be restricted if you hit your EE Business spend cap.

If you want your data speeds to return to normal, you can increase or remove your spend cap at any time.

Then, once your spend cap’s been changed, just restart your device.

And if you spot that your data speed hasn’t returned to normal at the end of the month, just restart your device.
