Charge to bill

In this article

Charge to Bill is a secure way to pay online for digital content such as apps, music, games, movies and more on your mobile bill, so you don’t need to use your wallet or card details.

Charge to Bill also lets you enter competitions or vote for your favourite contestant on TV shows and make charity donations via an SMS or voice short code number.

You'll see any Charge to Bill payments displayed as 'Services from other companies' under Extra Charges along with details of how to contact the merchant if you have any queries.

These are not EE services and the charges have been applied by the company that provided them. There's a limit of £240 a month for these charges (providing that your credit allows this) and £40 per single transaction.

Not sure why you’ve been charged?

Not sure why you’ve been charged?

If you've been charged, it’s because your mobile number has been set up and verified as a payment method and the cost of what you've bought has been added to your bill.

If you've charges from a short code number then it’s likely you've entered a competition, made a donation or voted on your favourite TV show. The cost of that service has been added to your bill.

If you want to find out about something you've bought, search for the 5 or 7 digit number listed next to 'Ref:' on your bill or the service name below.

More about purchases

More about purchases

For digital content purchases, app store purchases and purchases made via SMS, you'll have been sent either a text or email receipt containing important information. If you need to contact a merchant, try to find your text or email receipt before getting in touch.

If you can't find the charges in your App Store or online store account, it's possible that someone with access to your handset has paid for something using their own App Store or online account. Speak to anyone with access to your mobile number and check your text inbox for any receipts or messages.

Having a Spend Cap won't prevent these charges. Find out more about Spend Caps.

If you've received an error when trying to use Charge to Bill, you may have a bar on your number. To remove this just text 'UNBAR' to 150.

If you don't want to use Charge to Bill, just text the word 'BAR' to 150 or call 150 and we will add a bar to your number so you can't charge online purchases to it.

If your account has more than one mobile number, the account holder will need to call 150 to remove or add a bar.
