Activate and set up a new SIM

Got a new SIM? Get texting, calling and online in a flash. Here’s how to get up and running.

When you get a new SIM

Upgraded your device

  1. Pop the SIM into your device.
  2. Activate your new SIM online.
  3. Wait for a signal and the EE symbol to appear on your screen - this can take up to 24 hours but is usually much quicker.

 

Replacement SIM for same device

  1. With your old SIM in the device, start the process.
  2. Activate your new SIM online – we'll send you a One Time Password, then we'll ask for your new SIM's serial number.
  3. Pop the SIM into your device.
  4. Wait for a signal and the EE symbol to appear on your screen. This can take up to 24 hours, but is usually much quicker.

You’re all set up! We won’t even send an activation text, just a few network updates.

 

Replacement for a lost, stolen or damaged SIM

The SIM should already be activated and ready to go. If not, call us on 150 using an EE phone, or call 07973 100 150 from any phone.

 

Advice for Apple users

If you’re using an Apple device, you may also need to refresh iMessage so it connects with the right number:

  1. Go to Settings > Messages
  2. Turn iMessage off, wait 10 seconds, and then turn iMessage on again
  3. Go to Settings > Phone and make sure My Number shows your correct mobile number
  4. Tap My Number and type in your correct number if these steps don’t work.
