What credit checks are required by EE?

What credit checks are required by EE?

We have to carry out a credit check every time one of our customers wants to sign up for a pay monthly plan. Credit checks are designed to protect the general public from identity fraud and help to prevent customers from running up bills they can't pay.

We'll always ask your permission before we run a credit check.

What happens if I fail a credit check?

Unfortunately you won't be able to join EE as a pay monthly customer just yet if you fail your credit check. Instead, you can join on pay as you go and still experience all the benefits of EE.

What security deposits are required by EE?

What security deposits are required by EE?

As a result of your credit check we might ask you to pay a security deposit so you can use the EE network or activate certain services on your account.

This may be in addition to the upfront payment for your device.

There are two types of deposits:
  1. 1

registration deposit: we might request this when you want to join EE so we can activate your account and you can use the network

  2. 2

feature deposit: we might request this when you activate certain services, like International Roaming or International Premium Calls

Both types of deposit will be quoted on your bill as 'Deposit for Service'.

When will I get my security deposit back?

Your deposit will be automatically refunded back to you via your normal payment method once you've established a good payment history with us. You might typically receive this back within six months. However, prompt payment of your account by the due date advised on your bill for consecutive months will accelerate this.

If you have any queries about your security deposit:
