In this article

Like a traditional SIM card, an eSIM stores the data your device needs to use the EE network. Unlike a SIM card, an eSIM is downloaded onto your device.

Can I transfer my SIM or eSIM to my new phone?

Can I transfer my SIM or eSIM to my new phone?

Yes, if you already have a SIM or eSIM with us, there's a couple of ways you can transfer it.

If you're upgrading your iPhone, just fire up Apple Quick Start on your new iPhone and follow the Quick Start prompts on-screen.

You can simply transfer the eSIM on your current phone onto your new one via the Choose a Data Plan screen in Quick Start, rather than getting a new eSIM.

If you're upgrading to an iPhone 13, you can even convert your physical SIM into an eSIM.

Check out our iPhone help pages to see this new step in Quick Start.

Otherwise, you can just pop your current SIM into your new phone or order a replacement SIM or eSIM on My EE. You'll keep all the data on your SIM, like your contacts - on your new one.
