Can I connect to 5G with a 4G device?

No, you'll need a 5G device to connect to our 5G network. This is because 5G devices require additional technology, such as a 5G chipset, to work on a 5G network.

Can I get a 4G plan for a 5G device?

Can I get a 4G plan for a 5G device?

Yes, if your area doesn't have 5G coverage yet but you want to be ready for 5G, you can get a 4G plan with a 5G device now. Then you can simply move to a 5G plan when 5G coverage comes to your area. The great news is that if you have a 5G device on a 4G plan, you can move to 5G plan without increasing your contract term.

Good to know:

On a 4G plan you'll be able to access our 4G network but you won't have access to 5G network and 5G speeds. To connect to our 5G network you'll need to get one of our 5G Smart plans.

You can purchase a 5G Smart SIM from EE and a 5G phone elsewhere but we cannot guarantee it will work on our network or provide any ongoing device support.

If a non-approved 5G device is used with a 5G Smart SIM and is found to cause issues or damage to the EE network then it may result in the account being restricted.
