Reserve Data is reduced speed data service that kicks in once your full speed allowance is used up.
When using Reserve Data, the speed is capped at 2Mbps for both uploads and downloads. To get back to full speed you can purchase more data or wait until your bill cycle refreshes.
Good to know
We’ll tell you by text when you’ve used 80% of your data. And then again when you've used all your full-speed data and that Reserve Data has been turned on.

You’ll be able to use your device for things like banking apps, browsing the web, checking and sending emails and using apps like WhatsApp, Spotify and Google Maps. Downloading large content files and streaming video in HD may not work as well.

Reserve Data was included in all Smart plans purchased between 27 May 2020 and 6 July 2021, excluding unlimited data plans. If you started a Smart plan during this period, you'll continue to enjoy Reserve Data until the end of your current contract.

Your full speed data will start again at the beginning of the next month. You can also get back up to full speed if you:
receive a data gift from someone else on your account
buy a Data Add On

Reserve Data is no longer available when you buy a Smart plan. If you bought a Smart plan between 27 May 2020 and 6 July 2021 (excluding unlimited data plans), you'll continue to enjoy Reserve Data until the end of your current contract.
As of 7 July 2021, when you buy any pay monthly phone or SIM plan we’ll make sure you stay connected if your data runs out. You’ll automatically switch to a slower speed (0.5Mbps) when you’ve used your plan allowance, so you’ll still be able to use things like WhatsApp, Maps and messaging apps.
