My tablet uses a large amount of mobile data
If your tablet uses a large amount of mobile data, there may be several causes of the problem.
Solution 1 of 6: GPS position usage for applications is turned on
Your tablet can determine your geographical position using GPS (Global Positioning System). The information about your location can be used by a number of applications on your tablet such as navigation, the search function or weather forecast.
Solution 2 of 6: Mobile data usage for applications is turned on
You can limit your data usage by turning off mobile data. You'll then not be able to access the internet using the mobile network. You can still use Wi-Fi even though mobile data is turned off.
Solution 3 of 6: Automatic mobile data usage is turned on
You can set your tablet to use mobile data automatically when the connection to the Wi-Fi network is weak. To turn Wi-Fi Assist on or off, you need to turn on mobile data
.
Solution 4 of 6: Automatic update of apps via mobile network is turned on
You can select whether your apps should be updated to the newest version automatically or manually. See how to install an app
.
Solution 5 of 6: Notifications are turned on
If notifications are turned on, your tablet will use mobile data when applications send push notifications and is not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Solution 6 of 6: Background refresh of apps is turned on
When background refresh of apps is turned on, some apps will still be able to check for content updates and therefore use mobile data.
