How to add an email account on an iPad with Retina display:
Before you can set up an email account on your iPad with Retina display, you'll need your POP password. To get your POP password, follow the steps below:
- Log into your email account on your laptop or phone.
- Tap My Settings.
- Tap Receive my POP password by SMS.
- Tap Send.
You'll now receive your POP password by text on your phone, so you can continue to set up your email on your iPad with Retina display.
Before you continue, you'll have to make sure WiFi is switched off for your email account to be verified.
To set up your email account:
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Mail, then Contacts, then Calendars.
- Tap Add Account.
- Tap Other.
- Tap Add Mail Account.
- Enter your email account information (username and password) and then tap Save.
You'll now be asked to input the settings for the Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server.
Make sure the Outgoing details also show your username and password, and make sure that at the top of the page POP is highlighted in Blue. Then tap Save.
Please note: if your username doesn't work, you can use your mobile number. For example, 079XX166XX7@example.net.
When your iPad with Retina display attempts to set up an email address, it will automatically try to use SSL security, so when it asks Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL, tap Yes.
Once your iPad with Retina display has verified the POP settings, it will briefly tick all the information fields.
Please note: your iPad with Retina display should automatically set the server port to 587.
To check this, go into the email settings and scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server.
Tap on the box under the Primary Server.
If the port is shown as 587, press the home button to return to the front screen. If it's not showing as 587, tap 587 into the port box.
That's it - your email account should now be ready to use for incoming and outgoing email on your iPad with Retina display.
