Improving battery performance

All modern tablets, phones and laptops have functions that drain battery power so, to help you get the best out of an iPad with Retina display, we've drawn up a list of things to help you maximise the battery life.

Turn off your WiFi and bluetooth when you are not using them

Here's how turn off Bluetooth:

  1. From your Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Bluetooth.
  4. Slide status to Off.

Here's how turn off WiFi:

  1. From your Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap WiFi.
  3. Toggle to the Off position.

Lower your screen's brightness

Displays set to full brightness can also put quite a strain on your battery, so it helps to turn this down, but not too much or the screen won't be visible in daylight.
Another thing to look for is a setting which adjusts how long the backlight stays on for. To get the best battery life, you can turn it down to around 15 seconds, or less if possible.

Here's how to reduce the screen brightness:

  1. From your Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Brightness.
  3. Then adjust to a lower level that is suitable for you.
