How do I optimise my battery?

All modern phones have functions that drain battery power.

To help you get the best out of your iPhone, we've listed a few things to try to maximise your phone's battery life.

Turn off bluetooth

Bluetooth is a wireless connection that can receive and transmit information, but to do this it consumes battery power. To maximise battery life, you should switch off Bluetooth when you're not using a Bluetooth headset, transferring files or sending information to someone.
To make this easier some phones allow you to add a shortcut to the home screen.

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Bluetooth
  3. Slide status to Off

Lower your screen's brightness

Most mobile phone displays are set to full brightness at start up and this can put a strain on your battery. However, nearly all phones have the facility to turn this down, but don't turn it down too much or the screen won't be visible in daylight.

Another thing to look for is a setting which adjusts how long the backlight stays on for. To get the best battery life turn it down to around 15 seconds, or less if possible.

To reduce the screen brightness you should:

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Wallpapers & Brightness
  3. Adjust to a lower level to suit you

Watch out for GPRS, 4G, 3G and WiFi

If you're not planning to use the web or download then switching off 4G connectivity will deliver a longer battery life. To do this you should:

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Mobile
  3. Switch Enable LTE to the Off posistion

Another feature that can affect your battery life is WiFi, make sure this is switched off when it's not in use.

To turn off your WiFi you should:

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select WiFi
  3. Ensure that's turned off
