If you're a texter, you'll love Messages on iPhone. iMessage offers free messaging over WiFi for anyone using an iOS device with iMessage.

To turn on iMessage go to:

  1. Settings > Messages > and turn iMessage On
  2. Enter your Apple ID and Password > Tap Sign in
  3. Tap Send & Receive

Choose which email addresses and phone numbers you want people to use to send you messages.
Under "Start new conversations from", choose the email address or phone number you'd like to use to send outgoing messages.
If you've already set up other devices for Messages, they'll alert you that a new device has been set up for Messages.

Note: When porting in an old number you need to make sure your the temporary number has been updated in iMessage settings.

Goto: Settings > iMessage > Send and Receive > Make sure your number is showing
