How to broadcast or hide your network name (SSID)

A Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the wireless network name broadcast by your device. Having SSID broadcast disabled essentially makes your Access Point ‘invisible’ to devices trying to connect to a wireless network unless it already knows the SSID.

Find out how to enable or disable the SSID Broadcast.

  1. Connect the device to the PC via the USB cable.
  2. Launch a web browser and in the address bar, enter 192.168.1.1 then click the arrow icon or press Enter.
  3. Enter the required username and password, then click OK.
  4. Click the SSID Broadcast dropdown box.
  5. Click Enable or Disable.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click OK.

The SSID Broadcast has been enabled or disabled.
