Change wireless network name

Most wireless router's broadcast their name (SSID or Service Set Identifier). This is what's displayed when viewing available wireless networks and helps you to set up a wireless connection for the first time.

View wireless network name settings

  1. From a computer connected to your Bright Box router, go to (opens in a new tab or window)

  2. The router's LOGIN SCREEN will open

  3. Enter the username and password for the admin pages
    - The username is admin (all lower case)
    - The password can be found on a sticker on your router

  4. Click LOGIN

  5. Select BASIC

  6. Select Wireless Settings

  7. The WIRELESS SETTINGS page will open
  8. From here, you'll find your Wireless Network Name (SSID) and if your wireless network name is being broadcast

Change your wireless network name

You can change your wireless network name from the wireless settings page. If you do this, all wireless connections will be disconnected and you'll need to set them up again.

  1. Delete your current wireless network name and enter the new name for your wireless network
  2. In the example below, we've change the name of our network to PaulsWiFi

  4. Your new settings will be applied

Remember: after changing wireless settings, you'll need to re-connect all devices in your home to your Bright Box router.

Disable (or enable) settings to broadcast the wireless network name

  1. In the Broadcast SSID field, you can check if the option is Enabled or Disabled
  2. To change settings, select the required option - in the example below we selected Disable

  4. Your new settings will be applied

If you disable the broadcast SSID option, you may need to change wireless settings on your device to Connect even if the network is not broadcasting (or similar).

Don't use this option as a wireless security measure by itself. Some software is capable of scanning for non-broadcasting SSID's. If wireless security is disabled, it may be able to connect to your router.
