Reserve an IP address

You may like to reserve a fixed IP address for your computer or device on your home network, for example if setting up port forwarding or access control on your Bright Box router. To do this:

  1. From a computer connected to your Bright Box, go to (opens in a new tab or window)

  2. The router's LOGIN SCREEN will open

  3. Enter the username and password for the admin pages
    - The username is admin (all lower case)
    - The password can be found on a sticker on your router

  4. Click LOGIN

  5. The STATUS page will open

  6. Select ADVANCED

  7. You'll be prompted to proceed with caution - select ACCEPT

  8. Select DHCP in the left hand menu

  9. Scroll to the bottom of the page - in the ADDRESS RESERVATION field, select Add Reserved IP

  10. Locate the computer or device that you want to reserve an IP address for from the Current DHCP Client list
  11. If you're unable to locate the device that you want to reserve an IP address for, make sure that you've connected it to your Bright Box router
  12. Click Add

  13. In the last IP address field, the current IP address assigned to the computer will be listed. If required, this can be changed to any number between 2 and 254
  14. Select SAVE SETTINGS

  15. Your changes will be applied

If you changed the IP address, turn your router off, then back on. Your computer will then receive its new IP address.
