You may like to reserve a fixed IP address for your computer or device on your home network, for example if setting up port forwarding or access control on your Bright Box router. To do this:
- From a computer connected to your Bright Box, go to 192.168.1.1 (opens in a new tab or window)
- The router's LOGIN SCREEN will open
- Enter the username and password for the admin pages
- The username is admin (all lower case)
- The password can be found on a sticker on your router - Click LOGIN
- The STATUS page will open
- Select ADVANCED
- You'll be prompted to proceed with caution - select ACCEPT
- Select DHCP in the left hand menu
- Scroll to the bottom of the page - in the ADDRESS RESERVATION field, select Add Reserved IP
- Locate the computer or device that you want to reserve an IP address for from the Current DHCP Client list
- If you're unable to locate the device that you want to reserve an IP address for, make sure that you've connected it to your Bright Box router
- Click Add
- In the last IP address field, the current IP address assigned to the computer will be listed. If required, this can be changed to any number between 2 and 254
- Select SAVE SETTINGS
- Your changes will be applied

If you changed the IP address, turn your router off, then back on. Your computer will then receive its new IP address.
