Restore factory settings

If you're having connection problems, resetting your router may help. Any settings you've changed on the router will be removed, for example changes to WiFi settings, or port forwarding.

Reset your router

You can return the router to factory settings using the router's admin pages.

  1. From a computer connected to your Bright Box router, open a browser and go to (opens in a new tab or window)

  2. The router's login screen will open

    Tip: If the page doesn't load, connect your computer to your Bright Box using an Ethernet cable.

  3. Enter the username and password for the admin pages
    - The username is admin (all lower case)
    - You'll find the password printed on a sticker on the bottom of the router
    - If you've changed and forgotten your router's password, see our guide below to using the reset button

  4. Click LOGIN

  5. The STATUS page will open

  6. Select ADVANCED from the menu and click ACCEPT

  7. Select Tools and then Factory Default in the left-hand menu
  8. Click on the FACTORY DEFAULT button

  9. A warning will advise that ...any changes you've made to your router will be lost
  10. If you're happy, click OK

  11. Wait until changes have been applied - this will take 99 seconds

  12. When your router has restarted, you'll be redirected to the LOGIN SCREEN
  13. Enter your Username and Password
  14. Click LOGIN

  15. The STATUS page will open
  16. After a few minutes, your Broadband Username will be updated from readytoconnect@fs to your account username.
  17. The Broadband Status and Internet Status will display as Connected

  18. This can take up to 5 minutes.

Reset using button

You can return the router to factory settings using the reset button found on the back of the router. To do this:

  1. Make sure your router is plugged in and turned on

  2. Find a thin object that will fit easily in the hole - paper clips are ideal, however pens tend not to work
  3. Insert a paper clip into the Reset hole as far as it will go and hold for eight seconds

  4. Release the button
  5. The router will restart

It takes about five minutes for your Bright Box 2 to re-connect to the internet. If it doesn't, try updating your broadband username and password.
