Changing the wireless channel

We don't recommend manually changing wireless channels on your Smart Hub as this turns off Smart Wireless. Smart Wireless automatically selects the wireless channel with the least interference, and changes to a different one if it gets too congested.

If you decide to change channel manually, this will turn off the Smart Wireless feature.

  1. Open a new web browser on a device connected to your Hub and type 192.168.1.254 in the address bar. This will open the Hub manager
  2. Choose Advanced Settings > Wireless
  3. Enter the admin password. Unless you've previously changed it, it’s on the settings card on the back of your Hub.
  4. To choose a specific wireless channel, you need to split your wireless bands. Change the separate bands switch to On. By splitting your network, you'll create a second visible network name for the 5GHz band, ‘5Ghz-EE-Hub-XXXX’
  5. Select the ‘Wireless channel’ box for the wireless band you want to customise
  6. Select the wireless channel you wish to use and choose Set, then Save
  7. After saving you may need to reconnect devices to the new network name

How do I turn WiFi on and off on the Smart Hub?

When you set up your Smart Hub for the first time, wireless is automatically switched on. We don't recommend turning off your wireless as your Hub can give you superfast connections with a wired and wireless connection at the same time.

Here's how to turn wireless on and off on your Smart Hub:

  1. Open a new web browser on a device connected to your Hub and type 192.168.1.254 in the address bar. This will open the Hub Manager
  2. Choose Advanced Settings Wireless
  3. Enter your admin password. Unless you've previously changed it, it’s on the settings card on the back of your Hub.
  4. Set the Wireless switch to ON or OFF. This will turn WiFi on/off for both wireless bands
  5. Choose Save
