You can send and receive email messages on your phone via your personal email account.
Before you can do this, you need to set up an email account for GSM or GPRS.
Follow these instructions to set up an email profile for GSM.
Please note: Please note that you need a POP3 email account in order to send and receive email messages on your phone. You cannot access web-based email accounts (e.g. Hotmail accounts).
1. Find Personal config. sett
- Press the Navigation key to access the main menu
- Scroll to Settings and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to Configuration and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to Personal config. sett. and press the Navigation key
2. Create new or edit existing email profile
- If no data connections have been created:
- Press the Navigation key
- Highlight E-mail and press the Navigation key
- If data connections have been created already:
- Press Options
- Scroll to Add new and press the Navigation key
- Highlight E-mail and press the Navigation key
- If you want to edit an existing email profile:
- Highlight the email profile you want to use and press the Navigation key
3. Enter profile name
- Scroll to Mailbox name and press the Navigation key
- Key in a name for the account, (e.g. Private or Work), and press the Navigation key
4. Enter name
- Scroll to My name and press the Navigation key
- Key in your name (or the name you want to use as sender) and press the Navigation key
5. Enter email address
- Scroll to E-mail address and press the Navigation key
- Key in your email address and press the Navigation key
6. Select server type
- Scroll to Incoming server type and press the Navigation key
- Highlight POP3 and press the Navigation key
7. Select settings for login information
- Scroll to Login information and press the Navigation key
8. Deactivate POP3 secure login
- Scroll to POP3 secure login and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to Disabled and press the Navigation key
9. Enter username
- Scroll to POP3 user name and press the Navigation key
- Key in the username for your email provider's incoming mail server and press the Navigation key
10. Enter password
- Scroll to POP3 password and press the Navigation key
- Key in the password for your email provider's incoming mail server and press the Navigation key
- Key in the password again and press the Navigation key
- Press Back
11. Select settings for incoming email messages
- Scroll to Incoming mail sett. and press the Navigation key
12. Enter incoming server
- Scroll to Incoming POP3 serv. and press the Navigation key
- Key in the name or the IP address of your service provider's incoming mail server and press the Navigation key
13. Select number of email messages
- Scroll to Retrieve e-mails and press the Navigation key
- Key in the maximum amount of email messages you want to retrieve when you connect to your email profile and press the Navigation key
14. Enter incoming port
- Scroll to Incoming POP3 port and press the Navigation key
- Enter your incoming port details (click here for the top 25 email provider details) press the Navigation key
15. Deactivate preferred access point
- Scroll to Use pref. access pt. and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to No and press the Navigation key
- If required, press the Navigation key to accept
16. Select incoming server settings
- Scroll to POP3 access point and press the Navigation key
17. Disable proxy
- Scroll to Proxy and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to Disable and press the Navigation key
18. Select data bearer
- Scroll to Data bearer and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to GSM data and press the Navigation key
19. Begin editing bearer settings
- Scroll to Bearer settings and press the Navigation key
20. Enter dial-up number
- Scroll to Dial-up number and press the Navigation key
- Key in the dial-up number for your Internet service provider and press the Navigation key
21. Select authentication
- Scroll to Authentication type and press the Navigation key
- Highlight Normal and press the Navigation key
22. Select call type
- Scroll to Data call type and press the Navigation key
- Highlight Analogue or ISDN (depending on what your ISP supports) and press the Navigation key
23. Choose data call speed
- Scroll to Data call speed and press the Navigation key
- Highlight the required setting and press the Navigation key
24. Enter username
- Scroll to User name and press the Navigation key
- Key in the username for your dial-up Internet account and press the Navigation key
25. Enter password
- Scroll to Password and press the Navigation key
- Key in the password for your dial-up Internet account and press the Navigation key
- Key in the password for your dial-up Internet account and press the Navigation key
26. Deactivate terminal window
- Scroll to Displ. term window and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to No and press the Navigation key
- Press Back three times
27. Begin editing outgoing server settings
- Scroll to Outgoing sett. (SMTP) and press the Navigation key
28. Enter outgoing server
- Scroll to Outgoing SMTP serv. and press the Navigation key
- Key in the name of your Internet service provider's outgoing server and press the Navigation key
29. Enter reply-to address
- Scroll to Reply-to address and press the Navigation key
- Key in the email address you want to receive replies at (if it is different from your own) and press the Navigation key
30. Activate or deactivate signature
- Scroll to Include signature and press the Navigation key
- Highlight Yes or No and press the Navigation key
- If you select Yes:
- Key in your signature and press the Navigation key. The signature is inserted into your email messages automatically
31. Deactivate SMTP secure login
- Scroll to SMTP secure login and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to Disabled and press the Navigation key
32. Delete SMTP username
- Scroll to SMTP user name and press the Navigation key
- Press Clear to clear the input field and press the Navigation key
33. Delete SMTP password
- Scroll to SMTP password and press the Navigation key
- Press Clear to clear the input field and press the Navigation key
- Press the Navigation key again
34. Enter outgoing port
- Scroll to Outgoing SMTP port and press the Navigation key
- Key in 25 and press the Navigation key
35. Deactivate preferred access point
- Scroll to Use pref. access pt. and press the Navigation key
- Scroll to No and press the Navigation key
- Press the Navigation key to confirm
36. Select outgoing server settings
- Scroll to SMTP access point and press the Navigation key
- Repeat steps 17-26 and proceed to step 35
37. Activate profile
- Press Back three times
- Highlight the email profile you have just set up and press Options
- Highlight Activate and press the Navigation key
38. Exit
- Press Back
- Press Disconnect to return to standby mode
