Follow these instructions to select settings for the MP3 player on your Apple iPhone 4.
- Find iPod
Press Settings
Press iPod
- Choose option
Choose one of the following options:
Activate or deactivate shake to shuffle, go to 2a
Activate or deactivate same level volume in iTunes, go to 2b
Select equalizer settings, go to 2c
Select maximum volume settings, go to 2
Activate or deactivate lyrics and podcast info, go to 2e
a) Activate or deactivate shake to shuffle
Press the box next to Shake to Shuffle
Depending on the current setting, the function is activated or deactivated
b) Activate or deactivate same level volume in iTunes
Press the indicator next to Sound Check
Depending on the current setting, the function is activated or deactivated
c) Select equalizer settings
Press EQ
Press Off or the required setting
Press iPod.
d) Select maximum volume settings
Press Volume Limit
Press the indicator at the top of the display and slide it left or right to set the maximum volume in the MP3 player
To lock the maximum volume:
Press Lock Volume Limit
Key in a four-digit password of your own choice
Key in the same password again
To unlock the maximum volume:
Press Unlock Volume Limit
Key in the passworde) Activate or deactivate lyrics and podcast info
Press the indicator next to Lyrics & Podcast Info
Depending on the current setting, the function is activated or deactivated - Exit
Press the Home key to return to stand-by mode
Use the mp3 player
Follow these instructions to see some general guidelines on how to use the MP3 player.
- Find iPod
Press iPod
- Use the MP3 player
The menu items available in the MP3 player depend on whether the playback window or the library window is open
To switch to the library window, press arrow left at the top of the display
To switch to the playback window, press Now Playing
Play audio file or playlist
Switch to the library window
Press one of the following categories at the bottom of the display: Playlists, Artists, Songs, Videos, More
If required, press a subcategory
Press the required audio file or playlist
The playback window is opened and the file is played
Activate or deactivate repeat
Switch to the playback window
Press the album cover
Press the repeat icon next to the time indicator at the top of the display the required number of times
When the icon is blue, repeat is activated for albums or playlists
When the icon is blue with the figure one inside of it, repeat is activated for one audio file only
Activate or deactivate shuffle
Switch to the playback window
Press the album cover
Press the shuffle icon next to the time indicator at the top of the display
When the icon is blue, shuffle is activated
Change audio file by shaking the phone
Shake the phone to select one of the other audio files on the current playlist
Please note: Before you can change audio file by shaking the phone, this function needs to be activated. See above for information on how to activate "Shake to Shuffle"
Adjust the volume
Switch to the playback window
Press the indicator at the bottom of the display and slide it right or left to adjust the volume
Scroll through audio files
Switch to the playback window
To go to the next audio file, press double arrow right
To go to the previous audio file
Press double arrow left twice
To fast forward or rewind the current audio file
Press and hold double arrow right or double arrow left
Rate audio file
Switch to the playback window
Press the songs icon in the top right corner of the display to view the other audio files from the album
Press the required audio file
If required, press the pause icon to stop playback
Press the required number of stars at the top of the display
Control the MP3 player using voice dialling
Press and hold the Home key until a tone sounds
Say a voice command followed by the required title
The following voice commands can be used: "PLAY", "PREVIOUS SONG", "NEXT SONG", "PAUSE", "STOP", "PLAY MORE SONGS LIKE THIS", "SHUFFLE", "WHAT'S PLAYING" and "GENIUS"
Please note: it is important that the words are pronounced correctly in order for the phone to recognise them
- Exit
Press the Home key to return to stand-by mode
Download an audio file
You can download audio files from the Internet using the program iTunes. Follow these instructions to download an audio file. Please note, to download an audio file, you need an iTunes account. If you do not have an account, you can create one at www.itunes.com.
- Find iTunes
Press iTunes
- Download audio file
Press Music or Search
If you select Music: press New Releases, Top Tens or Genres
If you select Search: press the search field, key in the required name, press Search and select the required audio file, then follow the instructions on the display to download the audio file
- Exit
Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
