The Samsung S90H uses a WOLED (White OLED) panel, a self-illuminating display technology where every individual pixel produces its own light and can switch off completely to achieve a true, absolute black. Unlike LED-backlit TVs, there is no backlight at all, every pixel is independently controlled, which means the contrast between a lit star and the black space surrounding it isn’t approximated by dimming zones. It’s mathematically perfect. The S90H supports OLED HDR+ on the 55” model and OLED HDR on the 42” [18], and all sizes include Samsung’s Glare Free technology, which reduces reflections to keep the picture clear in bright rooms. Combined with the NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor, the S90H represents Samsung’s 2026 OLED mid-tier, above their LED Neo QLED range, but below the QD-OLED S95H.

The 42” S90H is a compelling choice for a bedroom, home office or small living room where screen size needs to be measured. At just over a metre wide, it’s comfortable to watch from 1.5 to 2 metres and brings full OLED picture quality, including perfect blacks and Ultra Viewing Angle, to spaces where a 55” would feel too dominant. The 55” is the more popular choice for a main living room, rewarding viewers with greater cinematic immersion especially for films and sport, from a comfortable viewing distance of 2 to 2.5 metres. Importantly, both sizes carry identical core technology, the same NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor, Glare Free display, OLED HDR, Motion Xcelerator 144Hz and 4K AI Upscaling Pro [18]. Neither is a compromised version of the other; the choice is purely about room and viewing distance.

OLED is outstanding for sport. Because each pixel responds instantaneously, there is no backlight to ramp up or dim, motion clarity is exceptional, with virtually no haloing, smearing or blooming around fast-moving subjects.
