Frequently asked questions

Before signing in for the first time, you'll need to activate your HBO Max account. Start by visiting our TNT Sports on HBO Max page and selecting the ‘Activate TNT Sports on HBO Max now’ button. Use the link provided by BT or EE and sign in to your BT or EE account. Follow the instructions to create an HBO Max account and accept the HBO Max Terms of Use. Once activated, you’ll need to log in to the HBO Max app for the first time.

If you have a TNT Sports subscription and an existing discovery+ account, you will be automatically signed into HBO Max (using your discovery+ log in details) when you open the app on your EE TV set top box.

If you have not held a discovery+ account previously, you will need to create an HBO Max account, accept the HBO Max Terms of Use and activate TNT Sports on HBO Max.

You will be able to do this by selecting activate TNT Sports on HBO Max in your EE account and follow the instructions. Once you’ve created an HBO Max account and accepted the HBO Max Terms of Use, you’ll need to log in to the HBO Max app for the first time.

To access TNT Sports on HBO Max, you’ll need either our Sport, Big Sport or Full Works EE TV packages.

If you have an Entertainment or Big Entertainment EE TV package this only includes NOW Entertainment & HBO Max. You can purchase TNT Sports on HBO Max as an extra.

If you're having trouble streaming TNT Sports on HBO Max, try the following: check for updates to both the HBO Max app and your TV software, ensure your internet connection is stable and reset your router if needed, and restart the app by quitting and reopening it. If the issue persists, sign out, unplug your TV for 20 seconds, and then sign in again. You may need to try more than one solution to resolve the issue.

You can reset your details in the HBO Max app or on HBO Max’s website by selecting Forgot password.

If you want to update the email address linked to your HBO Max account, you can do that in the Account section of the app or website.

From 26 March 2026, your discovery+ log in details will grant you access to your new HBO Max account.
