Rosamund Pike and Richard Madden join BAFTA jury for EE Rising Star Award

BAFTA-nominated actress Rosamund Pike, Bodyguard actor Richard Madden, actor and producer Ray Panthaki and film broadcaster Edith Bowman are amongst the big names who will be choosing the shortlist for the 2019 EE Rising Star Award. 

The shortlist will be announced on Thursday 3 January 2019, when voting will open to the British public.

What is the EE Rising Star Award?

The EE Rising Star Award is the only award at the British Academy Film Awards chosen by the public.

Now in its fourteenth year, the award honours an emerging actor or actress who has demonstrated exceptional talent and ambition and has begun to capture the imagination of the British public.

The latest winner will be revealed at the EE BAFTAs ceremony, which takes place on Sunday 10 February 2019.

2018's EE Rising Star Award winner Daniel Kaluuya

2018 EE Rising Star Award winner Daniel Kaluuya rocketed to fame in Jordan Peele’s genre hit Get Out, for which he won an MTV Movie Award and also clinched a runner-up Gotham Award in the Best Actor category.

He joined a prestigious roll call of former winners including James McAvoy, Eva Green, Juno Temple, Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart, Noel Clarke, Jack O’Connell, Will Poulter, John Boyega and Tom Holland.
