Bukky Bakray wins the EE Rising Star Award

EE is delighted to announce Bukky Bakray as the winner of the EE Rising Star Award for 2021. Bukky Bakray is a multi-award-nominated actress who received critical acclaim for her debut lead performance in breakout hit Rocks. 

James McAvoy, winner of the first ever BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2006, announced this year’s EE Rising Star Award to Bukky Bakray on stage at the Royal Albert Hall in front of the virtual audience.

Liam Payne EE BAFTA AR Performance

Ahead of the 2021 EE BAFTA Film Awards, EE gave fans the chance to get a first-look at Liam Payne’s EE BAFTA opening performance.

In an augmented reality (AR) real-time experience, created using EE’s award-winning 5G network for mobile, fans tuned in to watch the platinum-selling artist perform in AR for the first-time – with Liam playing live in living rooms, backyards and even parks across the country.

Liam’s movement and live audio was captured using state-of-the-art technology, with his real-time data instantly transmitted for fans to enjoy through their mobile phone via The Round AR app as a live gig.

What is the EE Rising Star Award?

The prestigious EE Rising Star Award is the only prize at the British Academy Film Awards chosen by the public. The award honours an emerging actor or actress who has demonstrated exceptional talent and ambition and has begun to capture the imagination of the British public.
