Fixing recording problems with EE TV

If you're having problems recording a programme or watching programmes you've already recorded, don't worry. Our guides will help fix your problem.

Check you're connected to EE broadband

While recording doesn't use an internet connection, your EE TV needs to be connected to EE broadband to allow all the features to work. To check that your EE TV is connected to your EE broadband:

  1. Press the MENU button on your EE TV remote.



  2. Press the up arrow on your remote (that's the one above OK) to highlight the top menu.
  3. Move over to TOOLS & HELP by pressing the right arrow on your remote.
  4. Now press the down and right arrow to highlight STATUS and press OK.



  5. INFORMATION & STATUS will open - check that Internet status displays as Connected.

You have too many recordings

You'll get the error YOU HAVE TOO MANY RECORDINGS if you try to record too many programmes at once.

  1. Using the down arrow on your remote, choose the programme you want to cancel.
  2. Press OK to confirm your choice.



Your EE TV can be set up to use record up to four channels if Replay is turned off, or two programmes if Replay is on.


Recording starts too late or ends too early    

Your EE TV works out when a programme will start and finish. You can always record a little bit extra just to be on the safe side. To do this from your EE TV menu:

  1. Press the MENU button on your EE TV remote.



  2. Press the up arrow on your remote (that's the one above OK) to highlight the menu.
  3. Move over to TOOLS & HELP by pressing the right arrow on your remote.
  4. Press the down and right arrow to highlight SETTINGS and press OK.



  5. The settings page will open.



  6. Move right (using the right arrow) to RECORDINGS.
  7. Press OK to open EXTRA RECORDING TIME.



  8. Press the left or right arrow on your remote to change the extra recording time before a programme starts.



  9. Press the down arrow and then use the left or right arrow on your remote to change the extra recording time before or after a programme finishes.
  10. Press down to highlight CONFIRM and then OK.



Hard disk full

Your EE TV comes with a terabyte (1TB) hard drive - this means there's plenty of room for recording all your favourite programmes. If you get the error hard drive full, you might need to do some hard drive housekeeping.


One by one or series

To delete single recording on your EE TV:

  1. Press the MENU button on your EE TV remote.
  2. Press the up arrow on your remote (that's the one above OK) to highlight the top menu.
  3. Move over to RECORDINGS by pressing the right arrow on your remote.
  4. Press the down and right arrows to highlight ALL RECORDINGS and press OK.



  5. Move right to highlight the programme you want to delete and press OK.



  6. Now pick the recording you want to delete.



  7. Press the delete button on your EE TV remote.


        
  8. And press the right arrow and OK on your remote to confirm that you want to delete the programme.



  9. You can repeat these steps for all recordings you want to delete.
  10. If it helps, you can sort your recordings by date, channel, alphabetic or category from OPTIONS.

Delete all recordings

You can delete all recordings from your recording settings.

  1. Press the up arrow on your remote (that's the one above OK) to highlight the menu.
  2. Move over to TOOLS & HELP by pressing the right arrow on your remote.
  3. Press the down and right arrow to highlight SETTINGS and press OK.
  4. From the SETTINGS page, move right (using the right arrow) to RECORDINGS.
  5. Use the down arrow to highlight DELETE ALL.



  6. Move right to highlight DELETE and press OK to confirm that you want to delete all recordings.



  7. Press back and MENU to return to your EE TV menu.
     

Recordings missing?

Sounds simple, but make sure your EE TV is always connected to a power supply and TV aerial. When it's off, it won't record your programmes.
 

Check your hard drive

You can check for errors on your EE TV hard drive from ADVANCED SETTINGS. To do this:

  1. Press the up arrow on your remote (that's the one above OK) to highlight the menu.
  2. Move over to TOOLS & HELP by pressing the right arrow on your remote.
  3. Press the down and right arrow to highlight SETTINGS and press OK.



  4. The settings screen will open.



  5. Move over to ADVANCED SETTINGS by pressing the right arrow on your remote.



  6. Enter your PIN, and then press OK on your remote to ENTER.
  7. If you've forgotten the PIN you chose when first setting up your EE TV, get in touch - we'll be happy to help.



  8. Advanced Settings will open.
  9. Press the down arrow to highlight Check your hard drive and press OK.



  10. Move right to highlight CONTINUE and press OK.



  11. Your EE TV will check your hard drive.



  12. The check shouldn't take long, but you'll be unable to record, watch recordings or use Replay.



  13. Once complete, you'll see a message - Hard drive check is completed.



  14. After a few seconds, you'll be able to check your recordings.
     

Reformat your hard drive

You can reformat your EE TV hard drive from ADVANCED SETTINGS. This will delete all your recordings and Replay content. To do this:

  1. Press the up arrow on your remote (that's the one above OK) to highlight the menu.
  2. Move over to TOOLS & HELP by pressing the right arrow on your remote.
  3. Press the down and right arrow to highlight SETTINGS and press OK.



  4. The settings screen will open.



  5. Move over to ADVANCED SETTINGS by pressing the right arrow on your remote.



  6. Enter your PIN, and then press OK on your remote to ENTER.
  7. If you've forgotten the PIN you chose when first setting up your EE TV, get in touch - we'll be happy to help.



  8. Advanced Settings will open.
  9. Press the down arrow to highlight Format your hard drive and press OK.



  10. Move right to highlight CONTINUE and press OK.



  11. Your EE TV hard drive will be reformatted.

Reset EE TV
