Bright Box router - restore factory settings

If you're having connection problems, resetting your router may help. Any settings you've changed on the router will be removed, for example changes to WiFi settings, or port forwarding.

Reset your router

Log in to your Bright Box router's admin pages from your computer by following the steps below:

  1. From a computer connected to your Bright Box, go to (opens in a new tab or window)
  2. The router's LOGIN SCREEN will open
Tip: If the page doesn't load, connect your computer to your Bright Box using an Ethernet cable
If you're unable to open the page and would like to reset your router, see our guide below to using the reset button.
  3. Enter the username and password for the admin pages
    - The username is admin (all lower case)
    - The password can be found on a sticker on your router
  4. Click LOGIN
  5. The STATUS page will open
  6. Select ADVANCED
  7. You'll be prompted to proceed with caution - select ACCEPT
  8. Select TOOLS and then FACTORY DEFAULT in the left hand menu
  9. Click on the FACTORY DEFAULT button
  10. You'll be prompted with a warning that any changes you've made to your router will be lost - select OK
  11. You'll be redirected to a page prompting you to wait until default configuration has been applied. This will take a few minutes.
  12. The router will restart

It will take about five minutes for the router to restart, and connect with your broadband username and password.

Helpful tip

If you're unable to open your router's admin pages, try using the reset button found on the back of the router.

  1. Check your router is plugged in and turned on
  2. Turn your router around so that you can see the sockets on the back
  3. Look for a hole marked Reset
It will take about five minutes for the router to restart and connect with your broadband username and password. If it doesn't work, try changing your broadband password.
  4. Find a thin object that will fit easily in the hole - paper clips are ideal, however pens tend not to work.
  5. Insert the paper clip into the reset hole as far as it will go and hold for eight seconds
  6. Release the button - the WPS/ LAN lights will all turn on briefly
  7. The router will restart
