EE today announced that 4G is now live in 12 more towns, bringing the total to 187. 4G from EE is expanding to all four corners of the UK, with more new towns being switched on in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Key routes between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and Cardiff and Swansea are also being upgraded to 4G to meet the growing demand for superfast connectivity on the move.
4G from EE goes live today in Antrim, Coleraine and Newtownabbey in Northern Ireland; Bridgend and Pontypool in Wales; Livingstone in Scotland; and Burnley, Leigh, Macclesfield, Nuneaton, Sittingbourne and Tamworth in England. These places will now benefit from superfast internet access on mobiles, tablets and laptops, helping people and businesses to do more on the go, whether that’s working or enjoying social media, music and videos.
4GEE is available from just £13.99, allowing more customers than ever to enjoy the benefits of the UK's biggest and fastest network. The new price plan was launched this week alongside the first ever EE-branded smartphone – the EE Kestrel. The EE Kestrel is free on plans from £13.99, or for just £99 on 4GEE Pay As You Go.
Olaf Swantee, Chief Executive Officer, EE, said:
“Our 4G rollout is continuing at an industry-leading pace, reaching more and more people in places right across the UK. We're connecting major towns to make sure that consumers, commuters and businesses have 4G where they live and where they work. As well as expanding our 4G network into new areas, our teams are switching on new 4G sites in our existing 4G cities and towns to make the EE network experience even better.”
EE was ranked as the number one mobile network in the UK, following comprehensive independent testing from RootMetrics. RootMetrics assessed all four major operators, collecting over 840,000 test samples and driving more than 23,000 miles.
