You can reserve a fixed IP address for your computer or device on your home network. For example if you're setting up Port Forwarding or Access Control on your Bright Box 2. To do this:
- From a computer connected to your Bright Box, go to 192.168.1.1 (opens in a new tab or window)
- The router's login screen will open
- Enter the username and password for the admin pages
- The username is admin (all lower case)
- The password can be found on a sticker on the bottom of your router
- Click LOGIN
- The STATUS page will open
- Select ADVANCED from the menu and click ACCEPT
- Select DHCP in the left hand menu
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- In the ADDRESS RESERVATION field, click Add reserved IP
- A list of computers (or devices) currently connected (via DHCP) will be displayed
- Find the device you want to reserve an address for and click Add
- If you can't see your device, check it's connected to your Bright Box 2. Or, you may have already reserved an IP address for the device?
- In the last IP address field, the current IP address assigned to the device will be listed.
- If required, you can change this to any number between 2 and 254
- Click SAVE SETTINGS
- Your IP address will be reserved
If you changed the IP address, turn your router off then back on. Your computer will then get its new IP address.

- Enter the MAC address of your device - this needs to be the Ethernet or Wireless MAC address depending on how you want to connect the device
- Click SAVE SETTINGS
- Your IP address will be reserved
Turn your router off then back on to ensure the address is available for your new device.
