About the Online Safety Act and age verification

Learn how the Online Safety Act affects EE, BT, and Plusnet customers. Discover what age verification rules apply, and how free parental controls help protect children online.

Under the Online Safety Act, certain types of online services that provide pornographic or other harmful online content must take steps to verify a person’s age to prevent under-18s from accessing this content.  

BT/EE/Plusnet doesn't provide online services meeting this definition, so we aren't required under the Act to provide age verification.

More information on the new age verification checks under the Act can be obtained from the Ofcom website. Ofcom is the online safety regulator who has responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Online Safety Act.
