Digital Champions

Employees who inspire people to give the internet a go

Sharing the love of digital

Our EE Digital Champions visit communities and share the benefits of the internet with people who are unconnected. They run sessions in a range of places – this could be at an EE store, in a community centre or even down the pub.

We provide our Digital Champions with the training and tools they need, and they go into the community to share the benefits of being online and inspire people to give the internet a go. We’ve partnered with UK Online Centres to create and launch the programme and will continue to work closely with them to support our employees as they go out into local communities.

Sitting in front of a computer can be a daunting idea for many people, and we’re actually addressing the step before that – the decision to test the digital waters. We won’t put people off with impenetrable jargon, and the sessions aren’t about technical skills: they’re about showing the 10.8 million people in the UK who aren't online how the internet can benefit them.

This programme forms part of our commitment to Go ON UK, a new initiative aiming to make the UK the world’s most digitally literate nation.

Our EE Digital Champions provide the session participants with a booklet that shows how the internet can make a difference to their lives, fact sheets about online safety, and advice about where to get practical IT skills training locally. You'll find lots more information in our Digital Living section.

By the end of 2013 we aim to train a dedicated force of 200 Digital Champions, who will each spend two days a year going into the community to inspire others to get online.
