Please note: From 10 May 2017, all Shared pay monthly plans have been discontinued with the exception of one SIM Shared plan.
In a nutshell, a Shared Plan is an EE offer that lets you add up to five different devices to one inclusive plan.
You won't need separate plans* for each device you use and you'll get one bill at the end of every month, making it much simpler to manage your digital life.
Up to five people can be added to your Shared Plan, making it easy to include the whole family or anyone else you'd like to share your data allowance with. You can choose how much data to play with - from as little as 1GB to as much as 50GB per month.
Whatever your circumstances or lifestyle, we've got a package to suit your needs.
The devices in your Shared Plan can range from new phones and new tablets to EE SIMs, USB dongles and mobile WiFi devices.
Here's how each option can be put to use:
4G Phone SIM - to be inserted into a 4G-ready mobile phone you already own. You'll get access to the 4GEE network, your shared data allowance, unlimited calls and texts and WiFi hotspots.
4G Data SIM - to be inserted into a 4G-ready tablet you already own. You'll get access to your shared data allowance and WiFi hotspots.
4G Phone - a brand new 4G phone. You'll get access to the 4GEE network, your shared data allowance, unlimited calls and texts, WiFi hotspots and one inclusive content add-on.
4G Tablet - a brand new 4G tablet, for example an iPad Air. You'll get access to the 4GEE network, your shared data allowance, WiFi hotspots and one inclusive content add-on.
4G Mobile WiFi - a brand new mobile WiFi device, that creates a 4GEE hotspot wherever you go for any WiFi-enabled device. You'll get access to your shared data allowance plus any WiFi hotspots.
4G USB Dongle - to be inserted into a 4G-ready laptop you already own. You'll get access to the 4GEE network, your shared data allowance plus any WiFi hotspots.
*Your devices will be on one Shared Plan, but a new contract must be signed for each device.
If the devices you own are 3G only, you will receive 3G on the UK's biggest and fastest network.
Terms and conditions: The account holder authorises all connections on the Shared Plan to incur data charges (including roaming) on their behalf. A minimum term on each connection forming part of the Shared Plan applies. Not all minimum terms may expire at the same time. Charges apply if you cancel any of the connections which make up the Shared Plan. Compatible device required. Minutes and texts are from the UK to UK mobiles and UK landlines starting with 01, 02 and 03 (excluding Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man). No fair use policy applies to unlimited services. Normal person to person use only. Internet: data allowance is shared across all connections within the Shared Plan. Devices not connected to the Shared Plan will not use the shared data. If the Shared data allowance runs out, you won't be able to use the internet. Any of the connections on the plan will need to buy a data add-on so all connections can use the internet until the next bill date. Other terms apply, see ee.co.uk/terms.
If you're already an EE customer, it's easy to convert your existing phone plan into a Shared Plan. Your existing plan will become the 'Leader'* and its data allowance can then be shared.
You can choose up to four other devices and/or people to start sharing with - five in total - (your 'Sharers') and we'll set you up with a new contract for each additional Sharer. Just call us on 0800 956 6000, 150 or visit an EE shop to make the switch.
If you're new to EE, no problem. Call us on 0800 956 6000 or visit an EE shop and we'll talk you through your options. Once you've selected the data allowance for your Leader's phone plan, you'll be free to add more people or devices to your new Shared Plan.
Once you've signed up to a Shared Plan, you can have one Leader and up to four Sharers. Both the Leader and Sharers can keep track of their Shared Plan data usage by signing up to My EE.
We offer a handy downloadable app, too - the My EE app - that will help you keep track of your data usage and provide ongoing support.
*To become a Leader, an EE customer's existing contract must meet the following minimum requirements: 12, 18 or 24 month 4GEE phone plan with at least 750MB data and unlimited minutes.
Terms and Conditions: You will need to connect a device to your Shared Plan before you can share allowances. You can only add a standard plan to the Shared Plan once the standard plan has expired. Remember the minimum terms may not expire at the same time. If you want to cancel any of the plans, charges apply. You'll need a compatible 4G device to access the 4G network, otherwise you will only use our 3G network. Other terms apply, see ee.co.uk/terms.
Once your Shared 4GEE Plan is set up, you can view and amend its details by going online.
You must register with My EE, if you haven't done so already, to access your plan and account details 24/7.
My EE is available to both the Account Holder and the Sharers in a Shared 4GEE Plan. The Account Holder can view the plan's details and make any changes if necessary.
The Sharers can only view the details relevant to their own device - and won't be able to make any changes to the plan.
My EE is the place to check your monthly data usage, as well. Your data usage will be displayed as a group total for all of the members on your Shared 4GEE Plan.
The Account Holder is responsible for the Shared Plan and has financial responsibility and administrative control of every plan listed on the account.
Important decisions, such as payment options or adding/removing EE products, will always be made by the Account Holder - unless they give Sharers permission to do so in Usage Controls in My EE.
To be assigned Account Holder permissions in My EE, choose I AM THE BILL PAYER when signing up for My EE.
Once the Account Holder position is taken in My EE, other devices on the Shared Plan will have read-only permissions, as Sharers.
Use our new Usage Controls to block or allow the following types of Sharer usage:
Find out how to use Usage Controls in My EE.
In My EE an Account Holder can also:
It’s impossible to go over your shared data allowance by accident.
If you’re using data and you’re running low, we’ll send everyone on the plan a text to let them know, and another one when it has run out.
If you buy a data add-on, you’ll get one more text to confirm the data’s been added.
The Account Holder of a Shared Plan can block access to social networking and 18-rated material on any device within the Shared Plan.
All devices have a default setting of 'Moderate', allowing access to common user-generated websites like YouTube and Twitter.
A Sharer can view whether Content Lock is on or off for their device. Here's how:
The Account Holder can change this setting. The device may need to be turned off and on again for a change to take effect.
Content Lock is effective over the EE network, but will not work on WiFi.
See Content Lock - Change my settings for more infomation.
If you’ve already got a Shared Plan from EE, you can see who’s used your shared data, and decide who can use more with our new Usage Controls.
You can also decide who’s allowed to buy more data, and who can use their phone when they’re abroad, so you’re in complete control of who’s spending money on your Shared Plan.
It’s simple to get your Usage Controls set up by logging into My EE on ee.co.uk. Here's how:
The Account Holder can change these settings at any time. Please note, the changes may take up to 24 hours to take effect. Once the changes have been selected in My EE, you won't be able to change them again for 15 minutes.
To change the Usage Controls for more than one device at a time, follow these steps:
The Account Holder can change these settings at any time. Please note, the changes may take up to 24 hours to take effect. Once the changes have been selected in My EE, you won't be able to change them again for 15 minutes.
If the Leader leaves a Shared Plan or the EE network, the Sharers cannot share any data and won't be able to buy any data add-ons. The following steps must then be taken:
A Sharer can leave a Shared Plan at any time, but they must take one of the following options:
To add or remove people or devices from your Shared Plan just call us on 0800 956 6000 or 150 (calls may be chargeable) or visit an EE shop.
You can't do this yet in My EE or the My EE app, but we're working on it.
Terms and Conditions: If you want to leave the Shared Plan (and a new Leader is not nominated as per above) the plan may be dissolved and data will no longer be shared. This will be subject to our absolute discretion. If the group is dissolved, all Sharers will need to sign up to a new eligible* plan for the remainder of the minimum term of each plan within the Shared Plan. If we let you do this, the total number of individual plans (whether held by you or a new account holder) needs to equal the total number of plans from the Shared Plan.
All new plans and migrations are subject to credit checks and are at our absolute discretion. You will need to be with us for at least 4 months before we allow a migration from a Shared Plan to any other plan. Early termination charges are payable for each plan within the Shared Plan that is not continued for any reason.
(*By eligible plan, we mean a plan with a monthly price plan charge that is more than the price plan charge payable when it is part of a Shared Plan. We will tell you by how much more each standard plan must be when you request to leave the Shared Plan). Terms apply, see ee.co.uk/terms.
All device upgrades must be done by the Account Holder as they are financially and legally responsible for the Shared Plan.
Please bear the following in mind when upgrading:
