What is Business Caller ID?
It shows you the name of a business when they call you. You’ll see their name and number on your phone or smartwatch. This helps you decide if you want to answer.
You’ll get it if you have a consumer:
- EE pay monthly mobile
- BT pay monthly mobile
You won’t have it if you have a business account or pay as you go.
It’s free and you don’t need to do anything to activate it. All you need is a phone or smartwatch that can display text. You can’t turn this feature off.
Why it might not work
There are a few reasons why this feature may not work.
- You’re using your phone abroad.
- The business is calling through an app like WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams.
- The business hasn’t registered with our partner Hiya.
- Your 4G calling is switched off, find out how to check and switch it on.
- You’re using another app that labels or blocks calls.
Some phones and devices show things differently
- Google Pixel 7 shows just the name if your screen is unlocked.
- Google Pixel Watch shows only the name.
- Samsung phones displays names from both EE and Samsung’s spam protection if Call Labelling and Scam Protection is switched on.
Scam call advice
Need to know
Business Caller ID can help you make a decision about whether to answer a call, but you still need to be aware of scams.
Scammers change their tactics all the time. If you weren’t expecting the call and are unsure, hang up and redial using a number from the company’s official website. EE can’t accept any liability if a customer has been scammed.
If you think the call wasn’t labelled correctly, you can let our partner Hiya know.
You can easily block a number from calling your phone again. Check out our guide on how to do this.
Business owners
If you're a business owner and want your name to show when you call people, you can ask Hiya to set it up. If the name shown is wrong, you can also ask them to fix it.
