of the EE Rising Star Award

James McAvoy - 2006

 

James was the winner of the first ever Rising Star Award in 2006, following this win with BAFTA nominations in 2007 and 2008 for his roles in The Last King of Scotland and Atonement

Since then James has starred in films such as Filth and the X-Men franchise.

Eva Green - 2007

Eva played the Bond girl that broke the mould, Vesper Lynd, in 2006’s Casino Royale - a role which ultimately crowned her winner of the Rising Star Award in 2007.

Shia LeBeouf - 2008

Shia’s role as Harrison Ford’s son in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull helped the young actor transform into a Rising Star winner. He is best known for his role as Sam Witwicky in the Transformers movies.

Noel Clarke - 2009

Noel’s breakthrough came in the form of London-based drama film Kidulthood. He also starred in the sequel Adulthood, which helped him gain recognition for both his acting and screenplay writing talents.

Kristen Stewart - 2010

Kristen is best known for her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight movies, but at the time of nomination for the EE Rising Star Award, she was praised for her portrayal of rock icon Joan Jett in The Runaways.

Tom Hardy - 2011

Tom was nominated after he shone in the star-studded sci-fi thriller Inception, and was crowned the 2011 winner. Since his win, he has continued to impress with performances in The Dark Knight Rises and Lawless.

Adam Deacon - 2012

Adam made his breakthrough alongside previous EE Rising Star Award winner Noel Clarke in both Kidulthood and Adulthood, but was awarded the mask in 2012 for his own urban comedy film, Anuvahood which he co-wrote, co-directed and played the lead role.

Juno Temple - 2013

Juno was starring alongside previous EE Rising Star Award winner Tom Hardy as Jen in The Dark Knight Rises at the time she was crowned. She is best known for her roles in The Other Boleyn Girl and St. Trinian’s.

Will Poulter - 2014

Will starred alongside Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis in We’re the Millers as Kenny, which earned him his 2014 win. More recently, he has starred in the film adaption of James Dashner’s The Maze Runner, which has earned both critical and commercial success.
