How is the Government protecting me from cybercrime?
On 29 April 2024, the UK Government introduced the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act, or PSTI.
The act is aimed at protecting you from cybercrime and loss of personal data when using products that connect to the internet (for example smart watches or mobile phones).
You will benefit from this act without needing to take any action. It is the responsibility of your provider and product manufacturer, companies like EE, to protect you.
What is EE doing?
We follow the PSTI regulations to keep you safe. We do this by:
- banning easy-to-guess passwords when you take your new product out of it's box. Making it harder for cybercriminals to hack into your devices.
- sending you Security Updates. Keeping you up to speed with any changes while using clear language, free from jargon
- providing you with a Statement of Compliance for all our products
- helping you to create a Security Report. If you suspect a security issue, we'll help you report this
Tell us about a security issue
EE and BT are coming together to give you more. Security issues are reviewed and managed as part of BT Group.
If you have an issue to report, please go to the BT Responsible Disclosure Policy page.
