We believe everyone should have access to connectivity. That’s why we’ve introduced the Basics plan on the UK’s most reliable network.

How does it work?

EE will carry out an eligibility check to see if you are eligible and you’ll also need to pass our standard credit check. Don’t forget you’ll need to provide your National Insurance number when you apply.

If you qualify, you’ll get EE Basics SIM only tariff on a 30-day rolling contract for 12 months. You can cancel at any time without any early exit fees. After 12 months, we’ll run another eligibility check to see if you still qualify.

Frequently asked questions

Can existing EE customers get the social mobile Basics tariff?

All SIM only customers and Handset customers in the upgrade window can move to the EE Basics tariff provided they are eligible. Flex pay customers are not eligible to transfer to EE Basics tariff.

Can multi-line customers get this offer?

You can have one EE Basics tariff per account, to be held by the account owner.

What if I need to cancel early?

EE Basics tariff is a rolling 30-day SIM only contract. You can cancel at any time without any early exit fees.

Could more than one person from each household be eligible?

The person receiving benefits must be the named EE account holder of the Basics plan. Only one Basics plan is allowed per EE account holder.

Will I have to do a credit check to get EE’s social mobile Basics tariff?

If you’re new to EE, we’ll carry out a credit check as part of your application. If you’re an existing EE customer switching to Basics, we won’t carry out a credit check.

Are there any eligibility checks?

Yes, you will need to pass an eligibility check. This will involve providing EE with some personal information (your surname, date of birth, and National Insurance number) so we can check you meet the eligibility requirements set out above. We’ll process this information in accordance with EE’s privacy policy, see https://ee.co.uk/eeprivacycentre.

What happens after 12 months?

We’ll run an eligibility check every 12 months. If you are still eligible and want your Basics plan to continue, the plan will continue and you will be eligible for another 12 months. See full Basics plan T&Cs.

What if I am no longer eligible?

If your circumstances change and you are no longer eligible after 12 months, we’ll inform you that your plan will move to an alternative SIM only plan. This will cost more each month than the EE mobile Basics plan. If you don’t want to proceed, you can leave your plan or swap to another EE plan. See full Basics plan T&Cs.
