Search in more ways than one

Search from a photo

Already have a picture? Upload a saved image or screenshot to search for similar products, identify objects or learn more about what you’re looking at.

Copy text from the real world

Google Lens can recognise text from the world around you. Point your camera at the text, then copy it to your device to use when you need it.

Search while browsing

Use Google Lens in Chrome to search text or images without leaving the webpage you’re viewing. Simply highlight what catches your attention to find out more.

Search with words

Sometimes typing is still the quickest option. Ask questions just as you always have and Google Search will help you find what you’re looking for.

Circle to Search

Seen something on your screen you want to learn more about? Touch and hold the Home button or navigation handle, then circle, highlight, scribble or tap what interests you. Your Google Search results will appear without you needing to leave the app you’re using.

Shop smarter

Seen something you love but don’t know where to buy it? Instead of describing it, simply search with Google Lens. You can search using your camera or a screenshot to find similar products, compare colours and styles, check prices and discover where to buy them.

Identify the world around you

Google Lens lets you point your camera at what you’re looking at and quickly learn more about it. It can recognise many everyday objects, plants, animals, artwork and landmarks, helping you discover more about the world around you.

Translate text instantly

Point your camera at menus, road signs, museum information or printed documents to translate text into your preferred language in real time. Google Lens also lets you copy translated text if you need it later. It supports translation across more than 100 languages.

Get help with homework and learning

Use Google Lens to photograph a maths problem, diagram or textbook page to discover explainers, videos and helpful resources from across the web. It’s designed to help you understand concepts rather than simply search for answers.

Google Search traditionally starts with words. Google Lens starts with what you can see. They work together, giving you different ways to search depending on what you’re trying to do.

AI Overviews are AI-generated summaries that may appear at the top of some Google Search results. They provide a quick overview of a topic alongside links to explore the original sources in more detail. They don’t appear for every search.
